Why is there no paystack recurrent billing plugin for woocommerce

Yea I know radarians hate WordPress startups but after going through hell in the hands of different Nigerian developers, I decided to go the WordPress route.
Everyone’s been talking of how Paystack enables recurrent billing in Nigeria so I thought it would be a breeze to enable the feature on my woocommerce powered platform.

Imagine my disappointment to find out the subscription/recurrent billing feature is not available using paystack on woocommerce.

Got me wondering why. Maybe a local developer may want to take on the challenge and price it at an affordable fee? It’ll be better than a foreign and expensive product. Perhaps Oga Ezra has something to say about this?

Such brilliance @delurge, exceptional brilliance i must say. Really impressed about how you chose to open, yet another payment thread over a simple email inquiry to paystack’s support.

Oh wait! Guess what? Even Google had answers.

You sir, are brilliant.

Hi @delurge, Ibrahim here, I’m a Paystack Customer Success Engineer. WooCommerce doesn’t support recurrent payments out of the box, so neither can our plugin :frowning: .

I’d rather not. This semi-rant was kind of unnecessary when you could have–like has been said–just contacted PS support or better yet, the person behind the existing WooCommerce plugin instead of being dramatic on here.

Just have to say this.
While it does not. There is a premium plugin for that WooCommerce subscriptions.

Now I’m not sure of the intricacies, but there’s a way to make that premium plugin know that your gateway supports recurrent billing.

Ahh ahh, PayStack!! From customer support ticket to customer support engineer! So has this ticket been marked ‘resolved’?

@xolubi when is the team meeting?

Hey guys, I know you all love paystack hence your quick defence of the platform. It was Paystack support that told me the platform does not support recurrent billing with woocommerce. I’m well aware of the premium plugin which is why I said a local solution with a more affordable price would be better.
I brought it on here so someone would pick up the challenge as I’m not a developer.
And I don’t appreciate your smart mouth @gabe. I don’t understand why people would try to talk other people down just to feel good about themselves.

We are open to suggestions boss. In fact, getting a plugin that helps our plugin work would the premium plugin to support Recurrent Billing on WooCommerce on WordPress might be the way to go.

@PapaOlabode Customer Success Engineer actually. And what ticket is it you are referring to?

This is not a paystack problem honestly any developer can create it but it’s not a Paystack problem the API is really easy to consume so you can get a dev to create one for WordPress

Because imagine Paystack trying to write plugins for God knows how many ecommerce out there that makes no sense.

But this doesn’t relate to the OP’s question. You might want to read his post again and probably tailor a better response.

Bless you Sir.

Wawu. Is this a thing?

Cool bro…no offence meant!

In respect of ‘ticket’, I think the OP arguably asked a valid question/challenge to developers. Which is fine. What’s even better is that PayStack (or you in this case), recognise that there are quite a few Startups here - apart from PayStack. So by all means, be super nice and helpful to your customer queries, but direct them to your inbox - where they belong.

It’s a free world and customers can post anything they want, anywhere, including Radar. But here’s some free advice I gave earlier…

Makes sense?

Lol, @delurge be reading my comment like…

Hey, bro! I must have mistaken your intent. The thread did come off, as something meant for paystack’s support, and I guess that was why @ibrahimlawal jumped in. Mea culpa.

Hi Radarians,

I developed the Paystack WooCommerce plugin.

Support for subscription/recurrent billing can be added to the Paystack WooCommerce plugin, but I need to know the plugin you are using to power the subscription functionality on the site. @delurge

Thanks

Seems like there’s a solution on the way. It’s WP job manager plugin @tubiz.

WooCommerce Subscriptions.
That’s woothemes official subscription plugin.

Im not so sure but i do not think a subscriptions plugin is needed to take advantage of Paystack’s recurring billing feature.
