Hi everyone, if you have some time to spare, could you please look at this and let me know if it’s something you find useful? It’s something I hacked together to help people test their sites/prototypes/etc remotely.
UPDATE: I’ve included an option to get a free product test.
Alxen, this is great. I think you should go global with this when it’s out of beta. Do some aggressive tailored advertising, display the cost in the visitor’s currency, put up some videos of tests and polish the user interface. Startups and existing businesses will find this useful. Great work!
Partly word of mouth, and partly putting it where people can see it, e.g. on Radar [for now].
Yes, there’s software.
I’m not sure what you mean, but basically, product owners have to design and pay for a test before it gets sent to testers.
I see you and @Habeebsulu signed up to be testers. Thank you! How did you find the sign up process? Is there some information you would have preferred not to give? Are there any information fields you think I should have included? Is there something you’d have liked to know upfront before signing up?
If you have any more questions, I’m happy to answer. Suggestions are also welcome.
I’m sure you probably have, but if you haven’t you could glean some ideas from Fullstory.com & Whatusersdo.com, I see some parallels between your service and those these guys provide.
DOB: I included that on the off chance that a product owner wants testers who are within a certain age range. There are other parameters to filter for, but this one seemed more likely in the near future than the rest. I’ll observe actual tests to see which parameters are useful, and which ones aren’t.
Sorry about that, I’ve been battling with form support issues for over 24 hours, but things are getting resolved and I’ll fix all these things as soon as I can.
Not yet, but eventually, yes.
Hmm…why? [I mean, you can choose not to take a test when it lands in your inbox, so that’s already sort of covered, but I’m curious as to why you’d want a choice]
And do you mean you want to be able to choose when signing up?
I was Imagining a concept like what freelancer sites do where one can see a list of projects on the site and apply for one of choice, but in this case, it could be a list of sites searching for beta testers and i could choose from such (maybe when the site becomes more populated this could be implemented) Nice Job so far, Good start to something cool. (P.S I wrote Bro too at first )
Right now I can’t find any form on the become a tester page.
Also it’s a little ironical calling it “Test everything” when there’s no support for apps. Plus, isn’t user testing supposed to include cross-browser/platform testing ?
Checkout utest, I believe it’s one of the biggest user testing platforms.
Thanks. The form is there, it usually loads ~3 seconds slower than the rest of the page (but ymmv).
Yes, you’re right about the name thing.
And, I doubt that user testing is supposed to include cross-browser tests. In my mind, they’re 2 different things, because it shouldn’t be your users testing your product’s browser/platform compatibility. That bit should come before you do user tests.
