The top ten places Nigerians (Lagosians) are Ubering to

Another youngman high on Local gin? :stuck_out_tongue:

Paying less does not mean Iā€™m getting more value for money. Iā€™ll pay much less if I took a bus from Ikeja to Yaba, but I probably wonā€™t, because Iā€™d rather have peace and quiet, and a non-sweaty-armpit-infested ride in an Uber, than in a 150 naira bus. Just saying.

Common, the Bus example was way off.We are talking Cars here. One thing is for sure, what you get on Gomyway is better than what you get onboard a Lagos Bus.

Which funds are you referring to here? Customerā€™s money or investorā€™s money?

Uber is venturing into ridesharing too. Their Director of Operations for Africa, Alan, mention that during one of the breakout sessions at Tech+ 2016. So, Gomyway & Jekalo should be expecting a serious competition too. Uber, particularly, is deeply interested in Lagos, Nigeria and will do all what it takes to grab maximum market share.

Itā€™s left for us to invest in our local startups and enable them stand a competitive chance against Uber.

Customers money obviously. That makes sense,it probably will be disheartening to see a foreign company beat a local competitor to it again but then Gomyway,Jekalo are here to stay I believe, just a notion of practice makes perfect.

This actually makes no sense to me. There is nothing in the data that suggests this. Anecdotal, stereotypical drivel.

Invest or patronize?

Patronize.

Does uncle Banks referee this platform 24/7.You need a nap sir.Off you go to bed :stuck_out_tongue:

I think the preponderance of clubs, lounges, and hotels in the list probably informed his opinion.

That plus the common saying that ā€œainā€™t no dudes going to clubs in taxisā€.

I know itā€™s a stretch to draw the final conclusion but he can probably pull out empirical data to support what he said.

Or heā€™s built a bot to run it while he sleeps. Just approved me now.

U nko? @mauri? U no go sleep?

There is probably more empirical data that dudes are now more likely to Uber to the club when they plan on getting shit-faced.

It shouldnā€™t be. We should embrace failure. Uberā€™s founder had failed many times before hitting his current home run. If Jekalo et al fail, it will only be a real failure if they donā€™t pick themselves up, learn from past mistakes, and try again.

Iā€™m out of the club game unfortunately so I guess things have changed. Back in the day, dudes used to get shit faced, speed race home, speak to policemen whilst drunk as skunks, who were only too happy to collect the remaining half-bottle of Hennessy as their roger for the night. Iā€™m glad that sick culture has changed.

Changed? For everyone or just you @techscorpion? Dudes still get shitfaced. Police still like Hennessy in the am as roger.

I honestly donā€™t think anything in Uberā€™s report informed @youngbobby or @ndianabasiā€™s opinion(s). If you look at a piece of data with preconceived notions, you will view said data through those lenses and draw the conclusions you want to. No dey blame Uber.

Considering that Mr. Banks already stated the following

itā€™s okay to let @youngbobbyā€™s comment stick as he clearly said

Really? Can you describe how the data could support a sexist interpretation? And how what I said allowed that?

why would i want to ā€œshareā€ a ride when i can get a cab?

This has got nothing to do with sexism, please.

It is just my point of view.

These are mostly expensive spots in Lagos where girls believe they can meet rich folks for marriage, or business purposes. Business includes ā€˜Kpanshā€™ too.

Compare with this post on Zikoko and youā€™ll find they are almost the same thing.
