Meetup on Sharing Office Space For Lagos Startups

Important mainly because startups should not have to cough up 3 million a year for Lagos rent

Lagos-based real-estate listing startup, Hutbay is organizing a meet-up for startup founders looking to find other startups and businesses they can share office-space with.

Most startups, especially early-stage ones, may not have the capacity to single-handedly rent a full office space; hence, it may be advisable to join forces with other startup.

Event details:
Date: Friday 10th July 2015
Venue: iDea Hub. 296 Herbert Macaulay, Yaba, Lagos (iDea rooftop).
Time: 5pm ā€“ 7pm

The event is co-sponsored by startup incubator, iDEA Nigeria, and admittance is free.

Nice one.

Hubs and co-working spaces, I love you from the bottom of my heart, but someone please create Officebnb for Lagos. Itā€™s exactly what you think it is, a platform where startups/orgs/individuals with extra space can let it out on short term basis.

Rent laws? That never stopped true innovators, come on guys, we can figure this out!

Mr Bankole, great insight, as always! It will be awesome to figure that out a.s.a.p. I keep loving this country every single day. Too much opportunity for the bold and daring

Great idea. Nothing on the radar (no pun intended) https://www.sharedesk.net/search?city=Lagos,%20Nigeria&wsTypeGroup=all

Thatā€™s a good one.

Not being a killjoy but office spaces need to be conducive, not manageable like many AirBnB houses. Itā€™s productivity we are talking about here. And you know how Nigerians can beā€¦

There is a friend I know who is doing a lot of work in this respect too. Heā€™s got great office spaces in Maryland and Lekki Peninsular area of Lagos. He is into Virtual Offices, Conventional office space, Co-working offices spaces, Work-stations and Boardroom/events platforms.

He is setting up two informative, rather e-commerce platforms to take the market out there since analytical data and statistical reviews gathered in the past 3 years of the business seems to be promising. He has been into it for over 3 years now. He is just trying to create a web presence testing and bootstrapping through WordPress CMS platforms.

Below are two of his efforts that are still in ā€œTrial/testing modeā€;

www.workbay.com.ng

His contacts are also on the site if you need to arrange a meeting with himā€¦

SMEs and startups cannot afford to overlook the strategic ā€˜online spaceā€™ too. You almost cannot imagine the traffic that can be driven to your ā€˜brick and mortarā€™ location from your online presence. You need to have your website submitted in a regional local directory like www.tagnaija.com for the specific category your business falls in. This will definitely boost your online visibility and drive untold traffic to your online site and consequently your physical location. All the best.
By the way, Gbenga Aiyeremi of the above mentioned WorkBay is going to be featuring in the Who is Who segment of TagNaija Successful Entrepreneurs in Nigeria

@OluseyeJohn - So that was interesting. I was reading your comment when it suddenly magically disappeared mid sentence. Anyway, I managed to to go to the URL you stated in your now deleted message but itā€™s down. I guess it isnā€™t ready yet. Any idea of a launch date?

Hey @lordbanks.
Just saw this old discussion has been ongoing here. (Our Content Dev lead just shared this on Slack this evening)
When I moved my business to Lagos in 2010, I faced a similar challenge - the problem of having to prioritize ā€œexcessiveā€ investment in rent or investment in reaching my market and building great services/products.

Our Team came up with the idea of Buffrspace, a space sharing, optimization and monetization platform in June 2015 and spent some time trying to prioritize it over other existing engagements.
So far, weā€™ve come long way ( we are currently on the last mile) and have a fairly sized pool of Buffrhosts locations we will be Launching the platform with (In Nigeria and Kenya) in a matter of weeks.

You can check it up here buffrspace.com.

Will share deets once we launch.
Cheers!

Hey @techscorpion, yeah.
We were working on the leads mngmt (and rdrs) on the backend, so I had to hold it a bit.
Thanks for the response.
Will keep you updated.
