Yes! I said she missed it big time. I expected her to have a good grasp of internet penetration rate in Nigeria and how her users interact with her blog before launching Linda Ikeji Social.
I quite agree that her monetization model really fits the existing audience she has but that model would have been a perfect hit if she launched Linda Ikeji Social App.
Internet is now mobile, she has the money, why did she fail to see the big opportunity in mobile phone and choose a web version? An Android App alone can attract 500,000 members in a week without this server issue and high loading time.
I have a blog with decent traffic, my daily mobile app install level is quite impressive. When I compared what Linda Ikeji would have received using my traffic/download rate, mehn! Itâs huge!
With all due respect bro, it is this type of thinking that keeps me from coming on radar. I may agree, we got âGreat Thinkers like youâ no qualms but how many doers do we have out there?
Some Niggers on here are just out to shoot down any little effort from other Niggers trying to do stuff. Not to mention a dude here(one big oga here on radar feels so comfortable calling peoples startup mediocre.) Facebook wasnât Markâs first startup, the dude failed before Facebook.
I donât think SV got to where they are by doing all of this, Instead of cursing down peopleâs effort we should instead encourage, help and collaborate.
Back to your question: Maybe you should consider this an MVP. Perhaps testing the idea cheaply with a web version that took not more that 300k to hack together instead of an app costing upwards a million.
Enough of all this noise about whether its a hit or a miss. Suddenly , everyone is now an analyst. The idea was there for years yet no one could disrupt it. And when someone does something , the others begin to run their mouth.
You guys have forgotten that there are millions of Nigerians on the internet , so even if one, two, or 100 people donât like the product , dosenât stop others from liking it and using it.
Yâall should chill and give it some time before placing judgement.
Sometimes, the titles are actually the first to be held by the holder in the community. The more reason they look for unique words or titles. However, like it is common, names and titles will be plagiarised and still be made to have the â1â appendage.
Linda ikeji desires what nairaland has. A sticky community talking about whatever they feel like. She should have bought a stake in nairaland and saved herself the effort. But then she wouldnât be Linda Ikeji.
You aint doing shit Nigger⌠You should look up Product Hunt, then tell me about constructive criticism. For crying out loud, she took the bold step, executed on her idea(good or bad), rightly or wrongly. There should be at least some sort of encouragement before âcriticizing constructivelyâ
Oops, almost crossed the line i guess. ApologiesâŚThatâs more like how i relate to the brothers on here(bro and Nigger). No bad blood, Just a painful stuff going on here.
Who says she is still not going to go mobile? Have you seen the number of Linda Ikeji Apps already existing? I even hear she makes more money from one of those than the blog site itself. The web and the buzz she has generated serves many purposes. Nothing stops her from putting a âdownload appâ link in there on the web and I believe she will when she has sorted out her tech properly.
