I don’t think he has to bother with adsense tbh. He can make, if he doesn’t already, a killing by dealing with local brands. Just like Linda has. Everyone wants an ad on Nairaland.
There are tons of blogs that are now giving Linda a run for her money, however, it will take some time for these blogs to begin to monetise their services to the degree Linda has achieved already.
Linda can’t be worth up to N1B. I’m impressed with how attractive her site has become to advertisers. However, I’m not impressed with the following:
- Her inability to migrate to a custom domain. One of her major challenge might be the fact that she wasn’t visionary enough to purchase her custom domain early enough. Hence some folks “help” her reserve the domain. For instance: lindaikeji.com was purchase by one Jonathon Santos. See: http://www.whois.com/whois/lindaikeji.com. Howbeit, if she’ll interested she can still buy the domain from Jonathon (since she’ll reportedly worth N1B).
- Her blog breaks all the rules in the UX/UI rulebook. Her adverts are arranged in very annoying manners and those backgrounds?? Her fonts?? Her font size?? Her comment system?? Imagine still using the default blogspot comment?? Didn’t someone tell her about the new Google+ comment system? Or that she can easily install Disqus on her blog??
I don’t care if she steals contents or not. Never my business. As a matter of survival, she has innovate, else she’ll will wake up one day and realise that she’s lost her position in the blogging industry due to complacency.
Talking about platforms similar to Linda but doing a cleaner more coordinated job : http://www.fuse.com.ng/ + http://pulse.ng/ … they actually generate alot of original content God forbid she actually tries that… In my opinion(which i am sure many other people share ) both platforms can do way better and should evolved way passed where they are right now…
After All this time
does Linda Ikeji have a product? no
does Seun Osewa have a (solid) product? no
maybe audience , may reach and one day they would both become dinosaurs if they they dont start evolving.
I beg to disagree. Their websites are their products. What both have to do is revamp their products and respect/appreciate the opinions of their consumers.
Since the General issue with Linda’s site is experience rather than content.
Question: would it be redundant to create a website that lets you view Linda Ikeji’s blog with a beautiful user experience?
It basically crawls the site. And posts it nicely on another site.
Like tweetdeck for Twitter.
Flipboard + Google Reader (RIP)
if you created another site, she’d probably sue you. Actually, maybe she won’t. This might be a decent idea.
hahahaha , would be funny if she tries to sue for that
There is a whole copy of LIB here. No, it’s not beautiful. But it’s got ads.
www.lindaikeji.mobi.
Only question is if it has Linda’s blessing. Probably with profit-share.
When you say everyone, who is everyone? I saw how much LIB was charging for ads and I can see why she is a billionaire in Naira terms but I dont think Mr. Seun Osewa has reached that level, although he can surpass it.
Nairaland ad spaces are in demand. I say this from experience.
dude, this is an idea. Let’s get a clean wordpress site and feed Linda’s stories in. Never link back. www.cleanlinda.com
Demand as in? Who even clicks on them? Have you ever clicked on a Nairaland ad before?
Who clicks Linda’s ads? Linda doesn’t give analytics on CTR or impressions.
They’re in demand in the sense that people want to place ads on these sites. Nigerian brands aren’t the smartest when it comes to advertising. They look up the top sites on Alexa and that’s where they want their ads.

Oh okay. Understood.
@lordbanks, the .mobi site does look better than her original blogspot site tbh.
Although could be better.
Not sure about this suing issue. But if the idea forces her hand to change up the site then progress.
Think this was implemented by Twinpine … On mobile it looks alright
If anyone is still interested in the “clean-linda-ikeji” project, i just remembered that there’s a tool that crawls websites and creates them into an app for you. And it’s FREE. Plus no coding needed.
Here is the link: Kimono
Have fun with it.
I completely support this.
Time to give Linda’s plagiarizing ass a taste of her own medicine.
Two wrongs wouldn’t make a right now would it?
