Ideas for services that 1m Nigerians will pay N100/month for? Share share share

No, airtime/data doesn’t count…

How about an “Idea Of The Day” app.
Users will receive daily ideas for services that 1m Nigerians will pay N100/month for only N100/month.

It’s like Dictionary.com’s “Word of The Day” but for Ideas.

You beat me by a second

Exactly my thoughts!!

Like @mark said, the difficulty with this is distribution, not the price. Collecting N10m from one person is a lot easier than collecting N100 from 10,000 people.

Collecting 100 naira from a 100,000 people is more likely though…

High margin products have failed time and time again in Africa.

This is the problem we are trying to solve.

@Dapo In Nigeria - you may likely want to look into the MVAS ( mobile value added service) route. Come up with a VERY “useful” idea that people won’t over analyse much before purchase (subscribing to your service). Is it possible, yes.

But you have to do better than the CRBT services the telcos are shoving down people’s throat. (Yesterday I just un-subscribed from one i never subscribed too).

I won’t go into the maths of MVAS.

I don’t have any specific ideas ( if i did, I’d probably be already working on it) but you can learn a thing or two from Julian Kyula , the Kenyan pastor who is really behind the loaning of airtime service ( nano credit) . I hear MTN and other Telcos deploys his solution across Africa.

As of 2013, in this interview http://www.itwebafrica.com/home-page/movers-and-shakers/541-julian-kyula/231446-interview-with-mode-ceo-julian-kyula it was said he had over 105million customers.

A close friend told me on a good day he could* make $1m ( revenue ).

So think along the lines of - how can i get people to pay for a service via airtime ( N50, N100) and of course there’s revenue share with the telcos which is ridiculous ( 70/30 , 60/40…)

Some people are quietly minting money this way

Good luck.

Come up with an idea that saves LIFE, you will become a billionaire overnight.

You just made it sound so easy…

Simple. Write a phone call bot that can emulate a user’s voice and help them make multiple phone calls at the same time. The bot should be so smart, lively and interesting that it could help that guy woo that difficult babe or help that busy startup guy convince multiple VCs to invest.

That would be one hell of a bot. That is no longer a bot, you have started delving into the realm of AI

Small world  . I believe know the chap to whom you are referring. He deserves every single atom in that Porsche. Very few remember when he and his mrs were building that business from scratch in their little office. Unfortunately, a lot of people are seeking overnight success nowadays.

What did this chap do?

This might be impossible considering how dynamic wooing is, but there’s CAYON , it helps collect that babe’s phone number

Airtime loans bro, read the thread

The only areas getting such wide adoption in the e-commerce consumer space in Africa is betting, payment processing(especially bill payments) and Mobile VAS. But if you consider 1m DIASPORA Nigerians, there are more possibilities. Or even selling Nigerian products to 1m people anywhere in the world. Open your scope of thinking. That’s the opportunity the internet has offered us.

Nigerians will pay N100/month to advertise their products to 10,000 Nigerians
