Over 3 years after the establishment of Hotels.ng and after receiving about 1.425 million dollars in investment, Hotels.ng is still running completely unsecured. I looked around the site and even tried to check out (normally some sites will only secure the checkout pages), but all pages were unsecured. The implications of the gross oversight cannot be overemphasised. Customer and transactional information have been completely at risk. I do not understand why Hotels.ng haven’t implemented HTTPS on the site up till now as the implementation of HTTPS takes nothing.
I hope @mark and his team will look into this ASAP.
Not just the site security but the overall design itself. It seems to me that the designer who worked on their new site borrowed design concepts from Jovago’s design but failed to pay attention to details. A number of elements are overlapping each other on the “list hotel page”.
Well my observation might not be related. I’m however amused how the Hotels.ng Team tends not to pay attention to detail. The Browser Title states ‘Hotels in Nigeria’. But then we have Englands’ Flag next to our Naira Sign.
The PC version seems manageable, the developer did not make it responsive to fit phablets and phones. They should work on that and avoid putting off people. With the name they have made, I expected better.
@james
you said something about the temptation of ignoring the basics when you become successful, well, that’s for myopic thinkers tho. Most of them pick inspiration but fall out the line.
With the observations coming in now, I guess it takes more than being a genius to be diligent and excellent. These unnecessary mistakes being noticed also point to the fact that checks and double-checks are not being carried out before updates are pushed to the live server. I will understand if these observations are found on a one-man or two-man startup but not with an organisation with reputation as Hotels.ng.
Very funny! It’s not like you can switch language based on preference; by clicking on the Flag. It’s dummy.
Oh wait! If it were to be a Nigerian Flag, it’ll imply the site is in ‘Pidgin Language’? Oh @D_Malik_Abiola; such parade. Would have loved to ask you why I still see the ‘LOG IN’ module when I sign in, and the page refreshes when I click on the ‘LOG IN’ while signed in. Maybe it’s my mobile right? Or it’s DUMMY too.
These dudes on Radar you guys are brutal, just whitewash a 3 million dollar valued company with like 9 post, if Mark should see this he is going to up his game, but at the end of the day sales over ux/ui anytime. But am thinking these echo vc guys they dont really care about the look and feel of a product before they invest, they believe in the primary idea of the product, I check out these adpump guys sandtmedia.com on mobile some links still pages still click as dummy, so I wonder whats the due diligence, I like investors like that though no stress.
Misinformation!!! Https does not cost a thing. It’s a protocol. SSL certificates don’t cost $1M. It just depends on who you are buying from.
Finally, I don’t believe in complaining or pointing out flaws rather fixing them.
So how do you get your SSL without breaking your bank account?
Try LetsEncrypt!!! Completely free and more flexible than what you are used to.
All these bashings, there is God o. you guys should just leave Mark and Hotels.ng alone. After all, the’re making there liquid cash, and that’s the most important thing in business.
