Hi, I'm Gbenro Ogundipe, Uber Partner/Driver, Ask me Anything

Hi everyone! I’m Gbenro Ogundipe. I work a 9-5, serve as a pastor with TBC Abuja and I am co-founder/owner of several businesses including Pliris Mobile and CrossHatch ML. I am a keen Uber Rider and started writing to Uber to have them come to Nigeria about 4 Years ago. Today? I manage a small collection of 4 cars, and I drive one in my free time.

I know for a fact that I’m not the only Uber Partner in Nigeria (there are over 300 of us), but I’d love to answer your questions about the platform, and anything else, really. So…ask me anything!

Do you have cabs in Lagos and Abuja? If yes, are there any differences in the cost and profits of running in the two cities?

How many percent of the fare does Uber keep? And when passengers pay cash how do you return Uber’s cut?

Remittance. Does Uber pay at the end of the month? How is cash handled? Do partners have to deposit the cash with Uber?

Thank you for doing this.

  1. As a Partner, how do you motivate your drivers to work harder and deliver more returns? Getting them out there to be more productive, particularly at night, can be difficult? How do you do it? Is there an incentive-based agreement?

2.Have you had any weird passengers when driving?
3. Asides fuel, what’s your biggest recurrent expenditure?

Hey pastor @gbenro thanks for your time! Just 2 questions from me (for now).

• What’s the no.1 thing you wished you knew before starting out as an Uber partner?

• What’s the weirdest/most interesting thing that ever happened to you as an Uber driver?

Hi Pst @gbenro, it is nice to have you around. Just one question.

  1. How much do you make a month on the average/car and as a rider?

Good morning @gbenro, I have two questions.

  1. What are the most crucial things you have done to grow your business in the last year and quarter?
  2. What’s the best question about your company or the industry asked of you in the last 30 days by a member of the press, how did you respond?

Hey, Pst @gbenro. Good to have you around. I’m asking for a friend. He intends getting an accent, and putting it on the Uber platform. How much do you think, his driver should deliver/week?

How do you join as an Uber partner?

How has the relationship been between you and your drivers?
What kind of issues(if any) do you have with them?
How do you split returns between you and your drivers?

Good Morning Sir,
I have three questions for you.
What happens in the event of an accident? Does Uber have any group insurance options, or partners/drivers will have to sort themselves out (everybody answer im papa name)?

What’s the funniest situation you’ve ever been in while driving for Uber?

LOL. What do you think of Buhari’s administration?

Gooodafternoon Pst @gbenro, I only have one question.

Which is more profitable between

  1. Get Drivers you can trust to run your fleet and make daily/weekly/monthly returns w/ opportunity to own the vehicle after a period of time.

  2. Doing the Uber w/ drivers and sorting them out daily/weekly/month.

Thanks for taking the time to do this @gbenro. When I Uber, I like to ride shotgun. Some people have told me this is weird behaviour. Have you seen many other people like me in your time driving? Or is it that uncommon?

Hi Gbenro,
Thanks for this opportunity

  1. I want to know what the best car to the for uber is. Based on fuel economy and general longevity.
  2. How much do you pay those you manage their cars weekly (you can just give a range)
  3. How much do you make on the average as a driver partner
    Thank you

Hi Gbenro, thanks for doing this. I’d appreciate it if you can help answer these questions:

  • What daily working hours do you set for your drivers/yourself and how much do you earn from these hours?
  • What impact does using a car as an Uber ride have on its longevity, with regards to wear & tear as well as milage?
  • Is Uber a good way to finance the payments on a car gotten via bank loans/financing plans?
  • Any regrets since you joined the platform/ or advice for anyone looking to join in as a partner?

Thanks
