I used to swear that I didn’t need a TV. Of late, I’ve begun to reconsider. I’ve begun to feel like I’m inside a digital filter bubble, disconnected from the messages that reach millions of people…more people than the internet reaches in Nigeria, considering our adoption and penetration realities. I’m also beginning to get tired of watching everything on my PC or phone. But that could just be age creeping up on me.
To those that already own TVs, why do you use them and how are they set up?
I own it cos it’s part of the furniture that completes the living room and another for my baby.
Sometimes I watch high rated content like the past US campaign trail, some “funny skits” from our legislators on channels TV. I don’t even watch matches on it, thanks to live streaming.
The moment I turn it on to see a movie, that’s me sleeping.
Errrr i use the TV to watch movies from my PC…thats its only function…the DSTV( Its paternal brother lies somewhere i cant remember, who has time sef ).
To connect my PS3,PS4, Laptop (Secondary Monitor), DSTV (News) , I prefer to watch movies from TV as it’s more relaxing you could just sit on a couch and enjoy as opposed to stretching your neck. My work makes me spend 70% of my life sitting and staring at my laptop, so getting away for a change would be blessing
I have owned a TV for over 2yrs now. I watch funny TV series on week days after work and football matches on weekends. It’s a good thing, away from Twitter and the internet as a whole. Also, I like it when I don’t have to see movies from my laptop.
When I have visitors, it really helps when they can watch anything they like, especially when my fiancee is around and maybe with a Nollywood-loving friend.
Recently, I am thinking I should install a custom OS on it, just cos I realized its possible to have a better UI on TV.
