This is actually an epic statement if you know the background to it. But then again, without a TV, you wouldn’t.
@Light Enlighten us, please?
In the TV Series Friends, Joey, trying to pick up a lady in a paleontologist gathering, introduced himself as a successful actor and said she may know him from his soap opera, Days of Our Lives.
But the lady, who was obviously another paleontologist, replies: I don’t have a TV.
And Joey was like: “You don’t have a TV? What’s all the furniture in your living room pointed at?”
Now a TV series like Friends is not something you will stream online. It’s usually something you bump into on TV when there’s nothing else to watch. But it still has its moments.
That said, I have to confess, I also don’t own a TV. Like with most things in life, I think a TV is for people who have launched 2.0.
Since i play games a lot, I need to have a TV and I prefer to plug my HDD or my laptop via HDMI to watch on my TV. Screen is bigger and offers me options on how I can chill and watch it without having to strain my neck or sight.
Used to use it for DSTV though that one is packing dust somewhere but in the not so distant future when we blow and buy Xplora, den I shall resume DSTV viewing via my TV.
I own a smart TV. I don’t do DSTV or GoTV. I download movies, TV Series I need to watch and keep up with, store on a HD and watch on the TV.
Whenever I want to get adventurous, I subscribe to Hulu or Netflix and entertain myself to the numerous contents there in. It feels cheaper and more contented than subscribing to DSTV/GoTV.
For News and Sports, I use Mobdro app.
Maybe it’s just me, the sounds from TV brings the living room live. Just the same way you feel when reading hard paper book than ebook -
The crinkling sounds you get when flipping the pages . Hehehe😎
Same here when friends come over i put on a game and we all watch a movie, to be frank i’d be creeped out going to a friend’s house and seeing no TV. I mean there’s gonna be family moments at a point.
@lordbanks I use my TV for everything and anything it has function to do, since I discovered Chromecast and was able to purchase a smart TV, my usage of the TV as been nothing but bliss.
Movies, Games, Music and Browsing my TV does all that for me, While at home I seldom bend my neck to stare at my phone, I simply look up to my TV
all thanks to chrome cast.
The TV has gone beyond a piece of decoration and/or furniture for me, its part of my digital experience now.
Maybe its just me, watching videos other than short skits on the phone is not my thing, so my TV is never just there
I own a TV, but in every definition of the term, i’m a cord cutter. The TV is connected to an Xbox and a FireTV so basically, gaming and digital media consumption.
I bought a GoTV box three years ago to try the whole broadcast TV thing but after the two months, I decided it wasn’t for me. Gave it out to my cleaner shortly after.
Yes I may be living in a bubble, but I have found that getting sound bites on Twitter and looking up stories that pique my interest does the job.
My TV is permanently hooked up to Netflix… once in a while I jump to CNN to catch some really interest news… Eg: US Election Day.
Don’t worry na. When your wife moves in, you will buy one at least for her and your kids

you are soooo right…
My wife is hooked on Netflix just like me… but the kid already has her own TV… but sometimes watching her “stuffs” on Daddy/Mummy’s TV appears to make it more interesting…lol… this is especially true when daddy and mummy want to watch anything but cartoons…
Exactly… Had to place my TV in my living room, cos I knew if i didn’t it would just become a rather large passage
