Hey People,

So I thought it might be fun to have all the April Fool jokes in one place. Although I fully expect @Tola to win or @wkyo might just drop a classic, but really it could be you!

Well, don’t expect to see a lovely “green bar” or “green padlock” on hotels.ng anytime soon. However, HTTPS seems to have been implemented by our good friend @mark. Unless it’s a winning April Fool Treat; hotels.ng is now SAFE AND SECURE!

The certificate has been revoked though… Notice there is no actual green padlock?

Lmaaooo … nice one @MrASulaiman, … @xolubi he just typed it and took a screen shot.

Lol… I get the joke now. You can actually visit it using that URL. Chrome just gives a notice that communication can be intercepted regardless.

LOL @xolubi observe it’s not just a mare joke. The certificate is valid from 29th of March, 2016. The green pad lock is pending due to HTTP resources included in the site. I think the images are still being served over HTTP hence they’re considered insecure images. I just noticed this.

PS. It’s all part of April Fool. So we’ve not switched subject. #JustInCase :grinning:

Is my computer hiccuping? The text in red?

Hehehehehe. This is serious April Fool, not Screen Shot. I think SHA-1 Signature is to blame for this notorious April Fool. Not me.

Kindly enlighten me a lil more.
Is it possible that the reason why you see ‘This certificate has been revoked’ is because the browser can not verify that the site is 100% secure?

Considering the fact that the browser senses mixed contents. It conveniently fetches the page at https://hotels.ng over HTTPS, but the site requests for insecure images, which should rather be also served via HTTPS?

Example, fetching img via;

Is it possible that this could be what making you see the Certificate as being Revoked? Or it literally means the Certificate has been withdrawn by the Issuing Organization?

“Revoked” and the excuses you bring up don’t really fall into the same domain though. Here’s what SSL Labs has to say: SSL Server Test: hotels.ng (Powered by Qualys SSL Labs)

You can scroll down on that page for more information. Along with support for SSLv3, and a couple of vulnerable cipher suites, I’d say there’s still some work ahead. :smiley:

Cheers @xolubi the link provided more insight. My main concern was understanding what could have caused the cert to be ‘Revoked’.

I guess its safe to say this is one of those rare cases where trust cannot be established because of interoperability issues between the SSL and the code or configuration running on hotels.ng server. :grinning:

It’s not safe to say whatever you just said… cos I don’t know what it means.
