An initiative of The Mohammed Bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity, the Global Maker Challenge is an online open-innovation platform that offers an opportunity for ‘makers’ and innovators to connect and collaborate, wherever they are in the world, to solve real-world problems affecting people’s lives.
The challenge seeks ‘makers’ and innovators across the globe to proffer solutions that address the following 4 areas:
-
Rural Transformation and Zero Hunger: How can farmers in less developed countries sustainably increase food and cash crop yields?
-
Sustainable Energy: How do the millions of people living in rural and isolated communities get access to low carbon energy?
-
Digital Divide and Digital Literacy: How can people in remote areas access and use reliable and affordable internet connectivity?
-
Sustainable Cities: How can cities leverage technology to reduce the spread of infectious diseases and prevent the next pandemic?
The selected winners will be awarded in July 2019 at the prestigious Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit in the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia and promises up to $1 million in prizes, and mentorship to scale their solutions and deploy them in countries that need it most.
