Why is Customer Service so poor in Nigeria and what can be done
Tell us your worse ‘poor’ experience. It will make for an excellent starter for the thread.
I had this experience with one Hospital, and trust me service was good in terms of treatment, But gosh I had to really be brave to trust them.
I find it hard to believe that a simple email cannot be composed in a formal way. Some email communications just makes me don’t want to carry our business transaction with them because its so bad.
Going into Banking that is even the worse part. Is like you are asking for a simple question and you can never get a simple and clear answer
I am not sure if customer service cannot write or they lack training in basic customer service really don’t know
I prefer to communicate via email, and some online channel, but I just feel that the other person on the other side is not just well trained, qualified, or just simply DON’T KNOW NOTHING
The relevance of this thread is rather doubtful. cc @PapaOlabode @SkweiRd
How do you think is doubtful, I don’t want to mention any company names. But generally the customer service that I have experienced is very poor. compared to what I have seen in other countries
- Response time is just zero
- Answer to question hmm not really
I am not sure if its organisational culture. or something else, really its really bad.

Ahh Bankole, I can see you mean business today! Walking around with your bazooka, zero mercy, ready to take down bad content
Anyways @jamesorior , the problem with this post is that it’s too general. I think that’s what @87_chuks also picked up on. While we don’t expect you to disclose any sensitive details or falsely malign a company’s reputation, you should at least have thought of why this is useful for discussion. You haven’t done that. See below as an excellent example of what you might consider next time.
A random customer service story
In anycase, @lordbanks I think this thread is now serving a purpose, which is that folks can realise you can’t just randomly ‘ask a question’ or make a general statement, with absolute zero context and expect engagement. It doesn’t work like that.
If I have to be very specific then I would have to talk about the company and the situation around it which some are personal and can lead to bad reputation for the companies involved.
Having said that, My question was very clear
Why is Customer Service so poor in Nigeria and what can be done
I am sure most people must have experienced some form bad customer service from Nigeria companies in some ways and to say that I am wrong or no context is just shying away from the truth.
Thread is irrelevant to the forum, for reasons that @PapaOlabode has outlined above.
Okay, I get your logic. Since you’re stating your opinion as a fact, once we’re done with your question, we can move to:
• Why is education so bad in Nigeria
• Why is Nigerian Jollof better than Ghana Jollof
• Why does Eba taste better with Yellow Garri
In fact, there’s a lot for us to ponder…
