Local banks dont really need to venture into murky waters. What smarter banks will do is incubate/accelerate startups without holding them up into their internal bureaucracy. This fintech movement will only disrupt banks that are not ready to collaborate. The image below (which i pulled from the web), shows how some smart banks are positioning themselves to be relevant in a Fintech world.

Where some banks see…

…Others are seeing opportunity for solving at scale each problem they identify. Take the example of this bank that is partnering Stellar and Flutterwave). Am winking at @iaboyeji

This one is for payment transfer. Tomorrow it could be loans or funding.

I believe startups should also grow up to solve bigger problems that can help the banks fix these issues at scale.

Kudos to players like @iaboyeji whose flutterwave solution is working with panAfrican banks and other financial institutions to solve a big chunk of the problem— which is inter payment across Africa. Their recent partnership with stellar is worth paying attention to.

One of his recent moves is getting into the FIS HiPo programme. I was curious to find out about the other companies in the cohort and some of the ones i highlighted caught my interest.

In this internet age, there is no confidential.

GTB is willing to borrow a politician 130M to pay off another loan at below market interest rate and now wonder why they are not getting paid.

I love this country.
