To some people here - especially the GIF kings - this is a no brainier but I sincerely want to know what it takes to get a Tech Startup or Product featured on TechCabal and TechPoint.
At what point of your growth do you approach them and what are the reliable channels that will get you a shot?
Thanks in anticipation for you kind response, ‘bashing’ and GIF jabs.
All you have to do to get featured on TechCabal is to build an interesting product. As soon as you do that, you won’t have to look for coverage on TechCabal. TechCabal will come find you and give you coverage. No shortcuts, no hacks.
LOL, Ezra. I can tell you for free that Paystack is on the road to becoming interesting. You know how Lagos traffic can be. If it’s any help, there’s this.
It certainly speaks more about the community than about your mentality. No one should expect to be “bashed” but sadly that’s the way of the world. Looks like “internet of things” includes taking potshots from behind the keyboard. We’ve been here so many times on Radar so I will stop here.
To your question, create whatever it is you’re creating and ask for reviews on Radar. You will get a lot of pointers from the community (may include no bashing if you’re lucky). Good you’re ready to take everything on the chin, you will need a strong chin if you’re not going to accept a lot of the suggestions or review feedbacks.
You will get featured anywhere or on any platform if you’re building a brilliant product and also if you’re KNOWN. Build and get talking about it until you’re KNOWN!
I’m not eager to step into the spotlight just yet. I’m working with a timeline and milestones chat that I tick as I progress.
However, it is good practice to make timely enquiries especially regarding Press with brand equity and not just ‘paid’ press - this you can get with money.
From the advice I’ve gotten so far, I think thinhs will fall im place with the right CONTACT, NETWORK and RELATIONSHIP.
TC has a prominent “pitch your startup” link. TP used to have one but you should be able to reach them via their contact info. Did you actually submit your startup and not hear from them or were you provided with a reason why they wouldn’t yet feature your startup?
How come nobody is willing to tell OP the truth? If you drop money, you will get coverage faster. All of you should stop this misleading. Yes, they all used to cover any tech story but not anymore. Build all you want, you only get featured if you have relationship of any sort with anyone of them or you can drop some money. The other route is to announce a raise of any sort, shade or color. #Runsaway
But seriously, build relationships if you can’t afford to pay.
Reminds me of how SEO was done in early e-Days; works like magic.
Totally agree with you on this; the only exception (I think) is if you have enough money for sponsored posts (no money/value back guarantee, of course)
