Did anyone’s mind drift towards Andela while reading this…?

ProJaro. Faster than Andela. Our promise is exactly the same; you know, the whole work with industry experts, mentors, learn using real world projects for real companies, yada yada. However, our bootcamp is just 5 days compared to Andela’s 2 weeks. Because who needs two weeks? Not you. You’re a pro. Oh, and you also don’t have to wait an entire four years. That’s just wrong. You didn’t ask to be sent back to University all over again, did you? Of course not. That’s why we are graduating you in 3 months + 3 months + 6 months.

Hi Everyone!

Dimgba, CEO of Projaro here! First, I must confess, I was rolling off the floor laughing at the reactions. I am really impressed with this community’s sense of humor. We did not anticipate this response but we welcome them and it really help us put a few things in the right context within our team.

I think what was really sad about this is we received the wrong type of attention. The comparison with Andela was something that never crossed our minds because we have never considered ourselves competition to them. Infact, Iyinoluwa (@iaboyeji) one of the co-founders of Andela has been a good friend and supporter to me and Projaro which makes this an even more unfortunate situation. We were one of the first coding bootcamps to use the Open Andela curriculum to teach introduction to programming in Abuja. We have prepared and referred eager candidates in Abuja and its environs to successfully apply to the Andela Fellowship. We have learnt a lot from observing their approach to building the future of African technology talent in the last 12 months and Projaro’s curriculum heavily leverages Open Andela.

Of course, we cannot deny our model is inspired by and shares a number of similarities with Andela’s but there are also significant differences. We are focused on being a starting point for any young Nigerian who wants to build a career in software development and on building developer talent for local businesses in Nigeria who might not have the budget to hire Andela developers. The job of building talent for our ecosystem is too great to left to one company and developers in the ecosystem need more options. This is why we are here to assist the likes of Andela in creating a starting point that will enable more technology talent in the ecosystem. Our desire is to grow talent and make it easy for them to build a career in software engineering whether they want to start their own business, work as software developers in tech firms, further their education or even join the Andela Fellowship.

If you are interested you can apply here. Applications are open till May 20th.

We appreciate your support.

It’s all good. The market is bigger than you both anyway. Congrats, and all the best.
