Unlimited data in Nigeria

I personally have bought many “unlimited” plans in Nigeria that are fast for a few days then throttle. What’s your experience? Is there any truly unlimited plan? And why does data in Nigeria finish so fast?

Most Providers seem to have “uncapped” rules or what they term “Fair use policy”. Just as in the case of smile where it seems to be determined based on the data speed.

Data usage Data speed

1MB <20GB Up to 2Mbps
20GB <50GB Up to 512Kbps
50GB Up to 256Kbps

So from experience every “unlimited” plan is capped. If you dig in deep (From the ones i have used though)

Ntel is unlimited though. But it max’s out at around 30Mbps.

Lol, I have friends that go as high as 400GB in a month.

Can confirm. I use NTEL

It has it’s issues, but it is unlimited and it is 10,000 naira only.

Spectranet has been harassing me to come back and collect unlimited data for 11k per month.

Spectranet was offering 11k a month and I wanted to try it out but when i read the T&C, I backed out. Fair usage kicks in once you clock 60GB.

That can’t work for me as only my PS4 updates would consume that talk less of my downloads

Once NTEL coverage is acceptable in PH, i would purchase.

P.S Anyone knows how to crack the Huawei 4G LTE MiFi Modem? Would appreciate the help

NTEL should be pan Lagos or Nigeria so it has wide coverage so i can watch Netflix and be great.

It’s not just a Nigeria thing. There’s no real “unlimited” data in the US either. Not anymore at least. I’ve used AT&T, Sprint & Verizon who all at one point claimed to be unlimited but then caps out at whatever point (I don’t remember for each, it’s been a while since I used any of those plans). Not even home internet in the US offers an “unlimited” plan tbh.

I think ntel is now available in PH.

Please at what point does ntel’s fair usage thing kick in and what happens when it does?

I am aware but they are still expanding and according to their coverage map, their signal might be fairly poor when am indoors in the area I reside though am waiting for them to activate the BTS site close to my street

Been using ntel for 4 months now, and I haven’t noticed a fair use policy yet , but the speed does max out at 3MBps at peak hours. Asides speed, I have seen friends with a usage of 500GB+ in a month easily.

For ntel users, I reckon the monthly usage is uncapped but since your usage is dependent on the speed. They added the clause below in their “old” fair use policy and/or terms and conditions.

At peak periods each day, any customer who has used a total volume of 3GB will be slowed down to 512bps

Customers likely to be affected by this policy are those who generate large volumes of traffic; often have file-sharing software or peer-to-peer/torrent apps on their phones or tablets; and download large-format files such as music, videos and movies consistently.

@daviruz Saw this online. You might probably have tried this but thought i share.

If the number (8) step doesn’t work you can try the one on this link for code to unlock
