$123 per hour sounds good, thanks to remote work.

hmmmm, Interesting. But only within the Freelance ecosystem. A good info to help position ourselves for the future. Can we have something like this for the whole digital space?

The most important stats you want to find out is the median $ per hour?

“The data also highlighted how rapidly some skills can become obsolete. The demand for workers who know how to analyze Twitter data plunged 51 percent last quarter from a year earlier, reflecting the social media service’s struggle to grow its user base.” I think that would be the most important stat.

Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Machine Learning, and [Big] Data Processing are jumping higher and sharply in demand. Udacity had since started offering courses in all these. For example, here’s their pitch on VR:

  • “Join the creative revolution! There is massive growth in the space, and job opportunities are skyrocketing, making this the perfect time to launch your VR career!”

Anyone with a tech career who’s not paying attention to these sharp changes in demand for skills is passively planing to become obsolete.

The same thing can be said about programming languages. If you don’t have Java or C#, and now increasingly Python in your portfolio, then you might be out of job soon for back-end development.

Another important stat I would have loved to see is the average hourly income for each of the skills so one can at least know his/her worth or have an idea on how to bargain with someone they want to hire.

I did not see $123 per hour, what I saw is N246,000 per day job for a Nigeria worker (Do the math, $123 X 5hours X N400)
