SMS Validation/Notifications

We want to use SMS validation for our site as our users will also have to receive SMS alerts for their transactions. What has been your experience with SMS validation/notifications (as opposed to using emails)? Also, any suggestions for fast and reliable SMS gateways?

It is best to use a service that has a phone call option.
I would recommend twilio.

I don’t know of any Nigerian team with the capability so I am using twilio.

Hi @utee,

I work with Africa’s Talking in Nigeria. Amongst other things Our API allows you send and also receive text messages with the added element of ease.(Libraries in php, java, c#, python, nodejs, vb.net, ruby). We also have a sandbox where you can build and test your applications for free and deploy when you’re ready for production.

Being Pan African, we have and maintain direct connections to Telcos in over 6 countries including MTN Nigeria.
This would be a good place to start

Ensure you choose a provider that can help secure permission to deliver messages to numbers on DND (Do Not Disturb). www.kudisms.net is capable of helping with that.

Are you using the gateway? I checked their documentation for sending SMS and I saw “maximum of 5 numbers.” What is that?

Awesome! Closest to Twilo I’ve seen and with payments in naira, I think it is a good alternative. I am also curious about your USSD solution. Why isn’t Nigeria in the list?

I didn’t see their products featured or a link. Or does one need to login first?

We have 2 shared USSD codes which we are currently connecting to the Telcos. As soon as that is done we will update the info on the website.

Don’t use any nigerian bulk sms provider!
