Hello, esteemed members of the Radar and TechCabal community. We wanted to announce a couple of important community updates.

##New moderators amongst us

Radar has grown over the past few months, which makes us very happy and grateful. However, with growth comes growing pains, and it’s important that the rules that keep the community a place for civilised discussion be enforced more closely. In response to calls for better moderation of community interactions, a number of volunteers who were already active and exemplary members of the forum have been given moderator privileges. We will formally introduce them by and by. In the meantime, with the new mods available to help wherever needed, we can all look forward to higher quality conversations.

##Rules regarding entities other than humans

Radar was intended to be a community where people interact. “People” means humans acting in their personal capacities. The point of the forum is for people to interact with people, not faceless entities with commercial motives. Also, anyone could create an account for an organization and purport to be speaking for it. If a bad actor got the idea to impersonate a popular organisation for nefarious purposes, their duplicity could go unnoticed till it caused damage.

Because of these, except in special circumstances, Radar will not be host to entities other than humans. Accounts that appear to be an organisation will be flagged, and deleted by moderators. These changes have been reflected in our community guidelines and FAQ.

What about the accounts belonging to entities other than humans created before this update? We apologise for the inconvenience and we will in good faith give such accounts 14 days to either update to a human alter ego, or, where not practicable, voluntarily close themselves.

There will be situations in which an entity other than a human would be better suited for interaction with the radar community. But those situations are few. When they arise, Radar’s administrators will verify such accounts before they will be allowed to participate. Please contact us for information about verification.

I have just seen these community guidelines. I would suggest the guidelines and rules be reviewed.

Some people have special circumstances why they are unable to make their pictures public. E.g, people who do 9-5ives and also run their start-ups on the side.

You could set up a private verification option rather than the blanket public option in the guidelines above.

Now here comes monetisation for Radar. When a user uploads pics, give them an option to pay to keep it private. I wouldn’t mind paying for a private verification option than to have my picture on display in public.
