Everyone, we hear you, and we’re working on this!
Don’t put this on the roadmap, please.
I think the big cabal guys should take a cue from This forum (http://ask.shoutmeloud.com). Text ads will be more suitable than banner ads.
Revenue maybe low but at least it doesn’t piss people off.
I had an annoying experience with Radar today. Apart from the in-post ad displays we all complained about, I noticed that anytime I wanted to scroll or click a link/a page, a pop-under ad automatically opens in a new page.
So, I inspected the elements and grabbed the screen
The ad networks used on Radar (obviously pop-up and pop-under) already ruined my experience, but there is more. If you Googled decipheringwarns and adnetworkperformance that I highlighted in the screenshot, you will notice that they are malwares. I was surprised because it was only displayed for radar and not for the other websites I visited.
We are all worried for different reasons. While @lordbanks and @seyitaylor are thinking about the bills, I am thinking about the user experience and data phishing concerns.
I don’t know why you’re having that experience - I think there’s some malware on your device. There are no in-stream ads any more. I suspect that it’s either your network or something on your computer. We’ve NEVER had pop-up or pop-under ads on the site.
To be 100% clear - we’ve only used Google Ads delivered via DFP so again… sorry. I’ve had this issue before. Had to wipe my phone. Hopefully you won’t have to do the same.
Thanks chief!
Here’s my screens:
There are other examples of the same phenomena in this thread. If you implemented HTTPS, one would reasonably eliminate the possibility that his network or any malware vendor could have injected strange snippets into his stream.
It’s one thing to ignore HTTPS when all you are serving is Radar-specific data. Once you start injecting DFP or any 3rd party code into your site, you really need to start taking security a bit more seriously.
Spot on!
Here’s what radar looks like from my end thanks to that etisalat widget at the bottom right of the screen.
Food for thought.
