I love to code and often find that the better part of the productive stuff I do happens while I’m offline. Coding online is fun as google, stackoverflow and whachumacallit are just a url away. But so is LindaIkeji, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Radar and lots of websites that help waste useful time. Well some interesting people have found a way to help you measure and quantify your coding! They built Wakatime!
Wakatime is a simple but very powerful tool that lets you measure the time you spend working in your favourite IDE. It’s extremely easy to install. All you need to do is sign up, grab a key and install a plugin in your fav IDE. I have been using it heavily since the first day I came across it and I have done my best to introduce it to as many people as I can.
@iaboyeji i built a plugin for that and would be willing to share with you. Andela really needs this. The plugin sends email reports to designated admins based on desired configurations through a web interface.
Nope can’t be accurately quantified.
The time spent digging through stackoverflow/ github issues/ or 3rd party source code
The time spent thinking about bugs during commute or in shower nko?
Freckle is cool but isn’t for developers alone. Wakatime solves that and withs it many integrations it’s a killer. I suggest yo switch over to it. I’d love share how I have increased productivity by 130x with it with you.
The posts said time spent coding, are you coding when in stackoverflow/github/ or while showering? This is the problem with Nigerians. They don’t research well and jump into conclusions to bad mouth awesome tools. If you want to track the time you spend on stack overflow or github write a plugin for it. I did that two by making a chrome and safari extension. Always research in depth bro. And about thinking in the shower? You killed me there! Jeeeeez! Radar tho!
