I’d be Interested, I always told Farouqalib about my interest in it, but never used it for anything practical other than simple command line stuff.
I’m also interested. I’m into python and django. Lets start a community.
Then we should probably move form wanting to start one to actually starting one, I mean a python community. I am open anytime to suggestions, feedback and concrete steps toward settling up a community. I can imagine the pros will outweigh the cons, Community Rocks.
I’m a python programmer also… currently researching network security with python. A python community will rock!
I really want us to do this everyone, so if anyone is willing to sacrifice a bit of their time to indicate their interest by replying to this and possibly dropping ideas/feedback we can move on from there, i think we should start with a mailing list/facebook/google+ group.
By the way i am Olabayo Onile-Ere (Lead Developer for Hotels & Perks)

Good morning and have a splendid day (Python Friends)
Hi guyz, hopefully am not replying too late. Apparently when I Googled python community in Nigeria there was an official python-nigeria mailing list. I joined though but it doesn’t seem anyone is on it. But I should probably try sending a mail on there to the list and see who replies. Maybe you guyz can join too and let’s get the conversation officially started and think of arranging a Meetup on Meetup.com. it would be awesome to have a community where we can communicate on like minded topics and platforms. Looking forward to officially meeting many of you virtually.
Hi Bayo, awesome point on community rocks. Am presently studying but would be done in January, and from what I have experienced with the python community here it’s simply amazing, passionate and enthusiastic. The power of python is indeed it’s community. As regards the workshop I put a hold on it because getting a venue was a problem and I had been at it since September, but finally cchub has agreed to give out their space to host the workshop and it will hold on the 19th and 20th of February. Am really looking forward to a Python Nigeria group, so I could say more about it and hopefully get the Nigerian python community involved. And if we do decide to do a Meetup I know python software foundation would be happy to support us. And who knows we could all be hosting a Pycon conference in Nigeria. Am happy to share my experience and contribute. My email -aishabello2050@gmail.com
Good we have started a conversation, i will do you an email tomorrow say before 12 noon. Thanks for taking the time and have a splendid evening.
Oh, this is cool. Having a Python/Django community in Nigeria. I’ve always wished for this. At least, I’ve always made a case for Nigerians to be represented in DjangoCon
If this community would fly, I’ll invite the few of my Nigerian Pythonista/Djangonauts to propel this community
Thats the kind of vibe we need, i have sent a mail to @shante_01 and i am hoping we get a little bit of traction, if we do this together as a community then i am sure it won’t fizzle out
Hello beautiful Nigerian pythonistas,
Concerning the community thanks to Bayo and a member of the Python Software Foundation Board (Naomi) I am happy to inform you all that we have an official python mailing list. You can subscribe to the mailing list here - https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-nigeria
I guess this would be the start of all things awesome for the Python community in Nigeria. For all those interested do subscribe to the list and let’s get the conversation started. Hope to read about all the great ideas for community from you guys on the official mailing list.
Greetings,
My pastor did not allow me to join the python community.
He asked me if python is the only programming language in the world or did I voluntarily choose something so demonic.
I told him the syntax is very appealing and he got annoyed. He said eve fell for the deceptive nature of a snake and now I’m repeating her failings again.
He recommended Javascript because it starts with a J, like Jesus. When I told him it’s the only programming language that works in the browser, he told me that it’s a sign from God.
He has started paying for my lessons to convert languages and I just wanted to come and let those in python’s bondage know that there is liberty in Javascript.
Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.
Troll. Because the ending was disappointing.
Am sure your pastor meant Meteor… It’s much closer to heaven.
I think you meant React atop that. So so much closer. #JS
Now that it has been created and evolving, I believe we can make Django Girls dream a reality. I am poised to help in any way I can, including teaching what would ease the understanding of Django framework to the attendees.
thanks so much for your support. We are still looking for coaches. Please register here www.djangogirls.org/lagos/#coach
and we can pick it up from there. Also the nigerian python mailing list is active, you could subscribe here https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-nigeria
I registered at the mailing list yesterday and Naomi Ceder did the approval. It was even from Naomi that I heard about the group. I will also do the needful now: registering at the Django link that you sent.
I have filled the form, as requested
yaaaaay!! thanks would definitely be in touch. As regards codegirl, they were showing the movie free on youtube but now you’ll have to pay a token to see it. You can see the trailer here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00YvjhV7nqo
