Hi Everyone,
I am new to Accelerator program and I want to ask this question.
Before startup can apply to Accelerator, is it a must for the startup start operation before apply?
My startup has not started operation (no registration with CAC yet, just raised money among ourselves for office rent no website) but we have validated our idea and our team usually meet twice a week.
Can we still apply for accelerator at this stage?
Thanks a lot,
Kola
Why do you think you need an “accelerator” and what are you accelerating?
Thanks @akindolu for your quick response. Like I said I am new to startup, for the past 16 years I have a been not for profit making but just got interested in entrepreneur and joined a team.
A member in out team wanted us to apply for accelerator that we could get funded through that and I dont really know the concept but I googled it and I decided to ask people on the techcabal if it is right decision.
That’s not the way acceleration works, and I suspect you’re approaching this wrongly.
First, proceed with building an actual product, and develop some traction. Develop the right relationships, and you might on your way to something in terms of incubation or acceleration. There are not many of them around, and I can tell you they are not the only funding means available.
Many successful startups or businesses never got accelerated in any form. Growth was purely organic, and I think that’s what you should rather pursue.
I thought this meant you are already in the accelerator?
To answer your question, many accelerators accept ideas alone if they think it is exceptional, if there is a good market for it and/or if they think you can pull it off. But a product in hand always makes your idea easier to conceptualise, especially when you are up against many applicants.
But it still up to the accelerator though.
thanks @akindolu I really appreciate
thanks @Obi_Ik I think I am in right place for capacity building
Hi @Kolawole_Muyideen_Or. If you are still looking for one, then consider this list.
