NGN273,657,322 for website maintenance and antivirus

Nigeria to spend NGN273,657,322 for website maintenance and antivirus.

Would the antivirus cure Ebola ?

Sighs.

No… but it would help cure our treasury of some of that disease known as being liquid.

The issue is not the cost but what would be delivered for that cost. That amount would hire 5-6 good silicon valley engineers for a year and you would need a team like that to create and manage a world-class enterprise application for a fortune 500 company.

Will the contractors deliver that ? I really can’t say. But if you were to do a good job on a management information system for a country as big as Nigeria, your quotation shouldn’t be too far off.

I guess they put Rubies on the site, hence the cost… I hear these precious stones are really expensive…

Missed joke opportunity about ruby gems right there. :frowning:

This sounds like about $1M which is the normal price for licensing and customising a fully secured enterprise portal or ERP with added support for say 3 years. From what we heard so far, it’s the guys that actually write up these documents that are idiots. Instead of taking time to explain that Nigeria now has some of the most expensive Oracle or SAP licensed products, they just write “website design”.

I guess before you start crucifying, it may be nice to find out the details and the suppliers…

Please check the image very well.

For maintenance I assume it is for a year
Second: Anti virus is it like enterprise grade antivirus, antispyware and firewall system that has a volume licence say for maybe 200 computers ?

Third: Portal design. Check the meaning of portal here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_portal

Also please educate me about the normal price for enterprise portal.

No one is crucifying at all we are just curious.

Ok let’s assume you are right and let’s use your data…

How much is a Palo Alto PA-7000 Next Generation Firewall with one year Malware, Threat and Content Filtering license with One year technical support. Unfortunately we need to make that 2 for redundancy so that folks don’t accuse us of stealing money when the portal is down.

Wait we have already exhausted the $1M on just firewalls and we have have not even paid for the Datacenter Colocation space talk less of the $300,000 that SAP will charge for installing the software that they have licensed to us for $2M per year. Even though they are using Tech Mahindra from India and not Andela for the installation!

Oh what of the physical servers? Don’t worry, we can use AWS for that so that Nigerians will know that we are technologically savvy. But wait what of the bandwidth costs and latency costs associated with using AWS? Don’t worry we will spend another $1.5M buying Riverbed Steelheads for optimisation.

But Bros, where will we find the money for all these?

You know what, even if we bust our butts delivering this world class enterprise platform for them they will still complain on Radar! Abeg lets just install Joomla for them and wait for Goverment to change hands…

Lol “Datacenter Colocation space” for just website that is sole purpose is to provide information ?

This website http://www.education.gov.ng/ that they intend to maintain is a Joomla website that was built and hosted by glaxybackbone

God would help us.

Call me naive, but are you 100% sure the money was for that website? Are you sure that there is no backend application that is used internally and not Internet facing. Most intranet applications requires a minimum of 6 dedicated servers - 2 X DB, 2 X Web and 2 X App - and that’s just for the production environment. We have not mentioned staging and Dev environments…So either Datacenter Collation or Cloud Hosting is required…

I had not even seen the website when I suggested Joomla. So I guess I have already developed the mindset of a politician. This is the validation I have always wanted and I will be submitting for forms for the next election…

On a serious note, if you are sure that this is the Website involved, confirm here with proof, I guess TechCabal should then call Galaxy to confirm or ask them publicly on Twitter while mentioning Oga at the Top that has promised change…

Brother I have scaled applications that has over a million users before.

Done db replications before Multi-Master.
Shared file system and all those scaling jargons.

The config usually depends on the load and the users.

@tola check this http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/pdfs/2016pro/Consolidated%20Appropriation_Bill__Details_2016.pdf

Search for EDUMM1016890 (MAINTENANCE OF FME WEBSITE AND PROVISION OF ANTIVIRUS AND PORTAL DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT FOR NIGERIA EDUCATION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM
(NEMIS) )

What you call “Scaling Jargons” are usually called basic requirements. For example a basic setup for ServiceNow for about 50 users requires 6 servers not for load reasons but for architecture reasons and they advice you to use virtual machines if you want save costs.

I have searched the document and there are no additional details about the project. What am I supposed to see?

A little off the website thing, dude how do you manage to have so much tabs open on your browser
?

I give up Sir/Ma.

Misleading title… Budget says: Maintenance of FME Website and Provision of Antivirus and Portal Design and Development for Nigeria Education Management Information System (NEMIS)

Items in bold are missed in your exclamation!

Why don’t you just post a new title on radar :slightly_smiling:

hehehehe :joy: :joy:

Dude, you are one of the many irrational alarmists in Nigeria, calling wolf where there is no wolf! You provided false information without any form of due diligence and masked your stupidity with false evidence and a very low IQ! Yes I am pissed and very pissed.

In fact I will support Galaxy in sueing for defaming their brand, so that next time you do your due diligence before providing false evidence online.

Now what do you have to say for yourself?

A quick Google search brought up - 404 Error - Page Not Found - please read through and I have provided a screenshot.

Oya, defend yourself, I am all ears…,

I wished you could tell me this IRL thou
