Nawhere.ng - Interesting idea to help find fuel

We are launching with Major cities in Nigeria - Abuja, Port-Harcourt and Lagos.
General users can add details from other places on the website but it will appear as “Unverified” but for the areas we are covering, it will be verified as we will be providing real time update

Same with all the “Is there light at home or nah?” efforts. GidiTraffic is an outlier in the crowdsourced information space.

i still don’t understand how you’re providing real time updates.

will your mandem be chilling in every petrol station in lagos or is there some gizmo you’re attaching to the pumps or are the attendants going to be your plug?

I guess that is up to me and my team to handle. I can’t disclose every details how we intend to achieve this but trust me, we will do our very best to provide real time update on the areas we are covering.
At Nawhere.ng, our goal is to create a dependable system that Nigerians can confidently rely on before going out to get fuel and with our system and strategies in place, I am confident we will achieve this.

We are not using crowdsourced information bro

i mean, fair enough. but don’t you think having users understand your platform is key to getting to trust and use your platform. it’s your call, ultimately.

Sure… Users will understand how things work… when the site is eventually launched next week Monday, you will understand it better…
Stay tuned!

Is it just me or does ‘Nawhere’ sound/seem like ‘Nowhere’ !?!!:smirk:

I don’t seem to have a problem with the name :)but how’s your gathering of data phase like? How often will you update the prices in different part of the country? Especially with the varying prices we have now

We are putting every effort in place to provide real time update

To save u money there are 3 ways to gather data.

  1. Crowdsource it: Get people who would update it and in return get accumulative points to get fuel for free at any station, the better the record is and verified by your team the better rewards for that person, now if i refer a friend to use the website i get say 1 litre free on my next fuel use which you would give a code to the psrtner fuel stations running the promo, there are like 1500 ways on doing incentive based pull strategy so please ehn, i advice you use this plus since its a pain point u would have no less than 1000 users as beta if you figure out ur launch and Operating strategy.

  2. Partner with Fuel Stations: you would have to sell the Fuel Station Manager the idea and how he benefits( Better Record Management, Customer Service, Rating and Brand that can help the guy or womans career in the chain) and then buy him or her beer and gifts, you then have to train the attendants and even have to give them on the side contract to be updating the price at least 2 times daily, 1 in the morning and evening nothing is free my friend!) however there is go gaurantee the person would do it, you would have to track and analyse your data to see if it matches.

  3. Get your team to actually visit: The most expensive but most accurate way, teams can be broken into zones who go from station to station to update the list daily meaning 2 teams cover each station and provide update on price records daily. Expect to spend money so if you maybe have an Otedola covering this project then you are free.

With the Data you have many monetization options available to you.

To me, I do not see this idea flying at all…It’s only driven by scarcity which is not a permanent issue. You guys would have employed a business analyst who will evaluate the viability of this business and advice properly.

Nice idea but not workable.

That is what you think.
Thanks for the contribution thou.

Awesome point you got here bro
I have taken down some of the point you mentioned. I may refer to them if need be in the future.
But for now, let me go by what we have already… Thanks once more for your contribution.

LoL. You either don’t have a grasp of the opportunity or have alterior motives.

Constructive Criticism is good…yours is not.

I do and I would say it again I do.

There are two sides of every business idea - create value and capture value.

Value is created when there is scarcity, what happens when there is none.

Second note, if the owners are waiting for people to register, then look forward to advert as a core revenue stream, my dear, it MAY be difficult - that’s when a business analyst comes in (advice on how to capture value).

I may sound ‘RUDE’ but that’s a BITTER TRUTH.

Such idea will fly if they incorporate a revenue model that’s not dependent on ‘A FACTOR’ which, in this scenario, is scarcity of fuel.

Ideas are mean’t to be challenged - it’s like Gold that needs fire (objections) to be attractive.

That’s why we are here!

Could you please share some of the opportunities you see?

You statement above is based on an assumption you did not substantiate and which you repeat below.

Thanks for a 2nd comment that’s much closer to constructive than your original summary dismissal.

To be very honest, I agree with @Ogechi_Daniel_Ndukwe. Getting fuel is not so much of a problem except there is fuel scarcity, when there is fuel scarcity, Gidi Traffic (642k followers) is there to assist. Let’s assume you beat all odds, gain traction and hit the good numbers. How do you monetize the product? you’d have to pay your team. Advertising budget too. Also, what happens when kachikwu finally solves the fuel situation? If you have considered all these, then Kudos.

However,

You will learn a great deal from running this and it may definitely birth another product that will stay within your business focus of - “helping people find …”. I like the name “Na where”, it won’t restrict you to just fuel, there will be many other things you can help us find.
