MyShoppey turnkey ecommerce

This is like 500 shops.

A really expensive 500 Shops. It’s probably all the marketing and hosting steroids, but I still wonder.

Fresh out of the kitchen, but I’m squinting hard at their design values…nvm. Besides listing on OLX, signing up to Konga’s marketplace, or wrestling with Shopify, Magento or whatever ecommerce template platform, there’s no really easy way for first time online merchants to easily get online in a way that is authentically theirs, brand and process-wise. The weird pricing, and middling design aside, execution will determine if their product is any good. It certainly is needed.

Also like http://www.storefront.com.ng, http://www.cart.com.ng (now defunct), http://www.shopistry.com.ng. Interesting to see no one is yet interested in simplifying this online shop thing for quick sellers like the BBM businesses.

Some things i noticed - They are making a lot of promises which they might not be able to keep (on the platinum plan).

  • Paga for Business account (with no details of what the merchant would need to keep that account)
  • 5000 Facebook Likes (Would they buy the likes or is it organic?)
  • Newsletter to 2000 Customers (who are the customers, what are the demographics, did they give their consent to receive marketing emails, etc)
  • Lifetime support / lifetime hosting (i don’t know how they plan to do this)

I like the partnerships they have put together but i have a concern. If i pay a 400,000 Naira setup fee to get all the features and i don’t get what i paid for, what would happen? Or what if they shut down in 6 months?

That pricing!!! Who are they expecting, gold merchants?

VoguePay’s payment link generator could be something that BBM businesses should consider using. Simple to setup account and generate link without a developer getting involved in the process.

No affiliation with VoguePay, its just a feature in their service I really like.

However a full pledge service dedicated to entrepreneurs like that would be a killer product (Me thinks)

VoguePay is very developer focused. There’s no user centered marketing around this feature, if it exists in the context. I’ve just checked their website and I have to create an account to see how the Buy Now button works.

I totally agree about their service been developer focused which is why alot of regular people would miss it and in all honesty they might get more users if they put the features like the buy now button, recurring payment button and the payment link which one can shorten with bit.ly and thus see how the link performs on a channel basis i.e. shorten link for BBM, Facebook and Twitter and thus get better insights as to which post gives me the real dough.

But like you said Alas!, they have instead pushed the integrations into major shopping carts as their upper hand

Like everyone else …the pricing and the site design itself is below standard compare to some of their partner site that looks way professionally designed. Expected more from them, and by the way the pricing is it monthly or annually? they did not specify…this can be misleading.
