Mijana App - Send Bulk SMS without GSM Numbers

Hi Guys. Help me with your reviews. I run a bulk sms website SMS Reel and was wondering how we can send bulk SMS differently then I came up with Mijana App. What this app does is allow people post their message , adverts or any other info (160 characters) for users of the app to share with the contacts in their mobile phone still as bulk SMS.

To encourage user share these messages, they are paid for every single message they shared that is delivered and they can make as much as N15,000 monthly from this. These users do not pay anything to join neither will they pay for the SMS.

You can help me review the App (Available for Android only) here or the website here.

Really nice idea, I went straight to the payment scheme to see your proposition, I think 10k delivered messages is too high before your users can cash money. It may discourage participation, averagely how many contacts do people have on their phones, at most 300.

Nice idea but may I never have a friend using Milana? I hate broadcast messages. Most people do. And if it is found you are doing it for personal profit, it’s very disrespectful to your contacts. Think about that.

Thanks for the compliment. 10k delivered can be covered in about a week equivalent to about N3.5k each week

Thanks for the compliment. You may never find out unless you snoop at your friends collection of apps just as you may never have found out how you still get bulk sms messages.

Which is more disrespectful. I don’t need to see your app collection, I gave you my number. That is, I’m trusting you to use that information appropriately. Not abuse it.

You are luring people to abuse their contact information for personal profit, my point.

There is no luring in this. Not all bulk SMS messages we get come from people we gave our numbers to. Bulk SMS in an industry of its own and as far as I know, its not a crime to broadcast a message. And until there is any rule stopping it, Mijana App is legal and shall make profit from its offerings.

True. But who knows how we can get out of these databases that we didn’t ask to be a part of?

My next app may be for that purpose but right now I need a review of the product please.

@xolubi what is your view of my app if you so please to take a look at it?

I looked at the website. While I think it’s a smart move on your part, I wouldn’t use it… neither would I wish my friends do. However, if you can make it so there’s an easy and honest way to opt out of receiving messages from product, that would be great. I said “honest” because most people just use that to confirm the number works and then take the spamming up a notch.

Quite frankly. I see the issue is in not wanting to receive broadcast messages but what do you think is the difference in my app with regular bulk SMS portal that sells GSM database to any interested user?

So my brother, we will need another app to opt out of the spam seige?

@yoowai was about getting out of all databases she never opted-in not Mijana App

On the website, the placement of the Facebook like box is a little out of place for me. Try another location where it can blend in seamlessly.

In terms of the product, I mean…it’s okay if that’s your line of business.

But as @xolubi said, I wouldn’t use it because that’s not how I share new products with my friends. I don’t want to spam them via SMS (or at all), and I certainly hope they won’t spam me either. If I like a new product, I’m likely to think about who would also like it and tell them in a targeted manner. I wouldn’t use SMS for this.

Can people opt out of your service if their friends use it to send them things? If my friend sends me something from Mijana App, can I truly opt out of all future messages from the app? This is really important. I already get enough bulk SMS spam.

Thanks for your review. The point is, the message you get is just another bulk SMS, you cannot tell whether its from Mijana App or any other regular bulk SMS website. The decision to whom your friend sends a message is hers. We believe, your friend would not send you a message she knows you would not like. At the moment, you can’t opt out though we are working at adding that feature to our app in the nearest furture.

Your concept of sending bulk SMS without GSM Numbers seems really good.
