The issue with this is that the pronunciations of “Google” and “Twitter” are semantically/naturally related to their spellings. And “stalk” and “stack” have different pronunciations, in case you weren’t aware. The problem with “Keettu” is that it comes from a non-English word, therefore is subject to a variety of spellings.
But all those are secondary. I think you should focus more on improving the content of the website, more so than the address.
Again, that is why i said work on your pitch, are you a marketplace for experts to meet with clients like what mara mentor is doing? or are you focused on a Radar like style ie. a forum for creatives to discuss on different topics or are you a social network, you need to ask yourself what you are and check online for something similar to you , then use that pitch as guidiance so people understand what you want to do.
Thanks for the insightful reasons and advice… what do you think about the idea from the explanation on the landing page… That is what even expected people to attack to make it better. @Freshboi_Ekundayo actually doing something different from radar or mara … it is dynamic and can be used by individuals or enterprises to simulate different things ranging from discovering local nearby shops or talents , making it for individuals to simulate konga and encourage long term relationship with their audience before transactions. I have made a lot of experiments and researches about it and I have built it… It is mainly a promotional network to fast-track their promotion and reduce cost of advert etc.
I think you should tear down this landing page and rebuild it.
Let the landing page be streamlined. Simple, clear, enticing, enthusiastic. Beautiful too.
Simple, clear==> without using too many words, explain what the site’s purpose is. In other words, answer the question “Why should I use this site?” Also, in such a way that I’m not left saying, “oh, another Nairaland”. Except it is another Nairaland.
A few tips: use bullet or numbered points, not paragraphs. Visually striking text, too.
Enticing, enthusiastic ==> your copy should be such that it draws users in and actually creates in them the curiosity to see what you’ve got in store for them.
Beautiful==> goes without saying. Not too many colours (you’re not Google). Pleasant font etc etc
I think, after you’ve been able to get me interested, if not excited, you can then have a field where I can enter my email to “gain early access” or “be the first to know” (or some other marketing speak). Along with the FB and Twitter buttons.
Hope I made sense.
P.S. If you come to a tech forum like Radar asking for reviews, please don’t use “marketing-speak” (like "conversational market etc etc). We’re here to help you out. We really need to know up front what exactly you do.
Instead of tackling everything you listed at once, it would be easier to tackle them one at a time.
A forum to connect mentors and mentees as is currently proposed would be a great start.
When you have comfortably positioned yourself in that market, then you can tackle the next thing, be it
KeettuPay, KeettuMail, KeettuGram, KeettuBook, etc like the Google you referenced.
Even If want to do everything at a time, I don’t have the resources and knowledge to withstand all those at a time … I have to start from some where… but I want to stress that the site I have built is dynamic to encourage what I mentioned. It only makes things and people accessible and useful through a promotional thing. Others are what you can get out of it…
My advice. Take a moratorium, think through what you really want to do. When you are convinced you have an idea that offers you a glimpse of what you want to achieve. Then ask yourself how badly do you want it to succeed. If you want it so badly, then find someone that has the right skills (and willing to take your ‘payment’ not necessarily money) to build a functioning MVP then roll with it.
Radarians could be harsh but more often than not it is a good thing. Those seemingly acerbic comments force you to rethink, reevaluate and raise your bar if you take them positively.
I would advice you to continue to work on your development and/or design skills. A day would come that you can build a good product all by yourself. You may even be a lot closer to that day than the current keetu is revealing. But not just today. And, if this idea really means something to you, then get someone that has the right skill sets while you continue to hone your skills.
I have built it already… I am still learning … It is only when I bring the main stuff and prove to be poor like the landing page then I will drop it to focus learning… Thanks for the advice…
Baba, this is your vision. Some great ideas have died because the owners got torn into pieces while trying to sell them to people. No matter how good what you have built, making others believe in it may take you more effort and cause you more pain than it took to build it.
Mark Zuck invited 18 people to a meeting where he shared his vision on ‘thefacebook’, only two of them attended. Google can tell you how much those two guys are worth now. Others who didn’t show up, wish someone could do a documentary to tell us how far with them today.
Jack Ma’ s wife, of all people, asked him to think over what he set out to do to be it sure it would work. Don’t be discouraged, don’t be defensive. Just learn and grow. If you are actually better than everyone on Radar, then all these reviews don’t count.
The idea in your head could be awesome, but what you have presented through the design and pitch has NOT replicated that great thing that motivated you to embark on this journey. Remember you are building for people to use. Users rate how good and relevant it is, not you.
Make I wrap up my epistle for here. It can always get better. Learn from as many as you possibly can, don’t try to answer every question.
Want to commend you for trying but here is it: The entirety of the product idea + design does not necessarily show a direction. First get your hands dirty. Learn; work with peer groups; get your skills up; just do stuffs for fun. Eventually, something is going to evolve. U really have to start small. Don’t think about building a social community when we have tons already, look around you and find problems peculiar to your environment. Finally don’t be upset with the reviews, it’s really a means to an end.
How can you bring a landing page for people to review? Guy, go and do your home work and come back with something serious. As far as I am concerned, you’re not serious.
The Idea itself is cool but really finding it difficult to understand what the product does as i was only able to grab a little from your explanation of the idea.
The domain name, design and the whole content is no not self explanatory enough to make me understand the product.
Try working on the design, and domain name and you might achieve what you want to achieve.
This is however a review on how to make it better not a condemnation
