Is Linda Ikeji buying/faking alexa rankings?

Any sudden jump in alexa ranking is fishy… and most likely fake… See image below.

You and this Linda sha.

So because its Linda related , if i realize something that others should know i should shut up? or stay clear ??

Do you know how much I have personally spent advertising on her blog? In my opinion, its fraudulent to buy traffic to boost your rankings in other to attract advertisers.

You should calculate your ad expenses on her blog and amount you’ve made from ads on her blog then subtract… If its profitable then stop complaining… if its a loss then look for another blog or network to advertise on.

No one is forcing you to buy ads on her blog :yum:

You obviously missed the point of this post. Its not about me because all my ads happened before the spike.

This post is about several budding entrepreneurs on radar who are boot-strapping their startup from personal resources. For such startups, every penny spent on advertisement is important and information like this helps in making better decisions… its not about Use Linda or Don’t Use Linda… its about here is some information…factor it into your decision making process.

An advertiser always tests different traffic sources of their ads to know which one brings the most profits that’s why things like google analytics, link trackers e.t.c are used to study traffic sources…

In I.M, its always about use or don’t use… unless the advertiser is just trying to boost rankings of his/her blog or website…

Oya sorry no vex

This you should have stated in your post.

Yes, when it comes to advertising it’s about use or don’t use… and since you admit that such a process exist, then you should know that the more info/data available to make that decision, the better the quality of the outcome.

My post on its own cannot help u make that decision, it’s just a singular data point that feeds into the process…

Lastly, am wowed that instead of focusing on the info I provided, you find it more interesting to attack me… abi na u help Linda buy the fake traffic???

Based on your responses to this thread, it appears to me that you endorse buying fake traffic with an intent to deceive…

Not that this is my cup of tea, but did anyone consider all possible alternatives before jumping to the more interesting conclusion that she’s ‘gaming’ Alexa?

Linda, more than most, does not need Alexa’s validation at this point in her journey.

Alexa is always calibrating its measurement criteria. I would be more curious, were I you, as to why there was first a sharp dip, than a plateau, before the spike. The spike is not the anomaly - if anything, it looks like her ranking was returned to its original point before the inexplicable dip in January and subsequent months.

Conjecture

Your analysis is very plausible… and it could swing the result either way… either to correct to a high rank or remove fake counts and drop to a low rank.

In this case if she was restored to the value just before the first dip… Jan '17… then maybe I will believe it’s what happened. However, the sudden spike went up to a value from about Aug '16.

To me it looks more like a case of somebody forgot to renew a subscription to a service from sites like maxvisits.com and they stopped… then the service was renewed… just my theory sha…not saying it’s what happened…

@easibor I think you’re missing a question mark at the end of this thread title

90% of traffic online is fake… It is the advertisers duty to test what works… If an advertiser wants to boost rankings all he/she has to do is buy FB ads linking to the blog… Fake traffic hurts rankings in search results…

Any sudden jump in rankings can be caused by advertising on one of the top 20 sites in the world for at least a month.

I don’t buy fake traffic bcos I know it hurts search results and also bcos I have done my research and practice on I.M…

You are right… just updated.
Thanks for the feedback

She’s paying for Alexa rankings. I’m certain of that.

I once paid for Alexa rankings and same thing happened (sudden jump) although I’ve stopped paying because it’s just not worth the money unless you have a lot of direct advertisers.

Alexa ranking is shit BTW. Pay them and they will give you better rankings.

Such a shame we don’t have something more credible.

Did you pay directly to Alexa or to some company ? Just curious…

Directly to alexa

hmmm never knew that was possible… interesting

Now you know…

Naij.com , Naijaloaded.com.ng also pay for rankings

naijaloaded i know… but naij and i didnt…lol
