I went and did something crazy!

Disclaimer: Coming from me, please take the above quote lightly; my sanity is still intact.

“This solution helps small business owner who are basic users of technology to manage their finances, an area of business they’ve never really been good at. It can also be used by entrepreneurs with side hustle.”

7 months have passed since I started working on something with 10 colleagues. We had set out to created a financial technology solution to help the people no one seems to “really” care about – the millions of Nigerians who own informal businesses aka mSMEs.

We called this solution CashMadam because it helps them manage their finances, an area of business they’ve never really been good at. Irrespective of the cynicism around the project, we’ve gone ahead to complete it and have decided to make it FREE to everyone.

Now I need your help. I need you to help CashMadam achieve her first milestone of attaining 500 downloads this July by:

  • INSTALLING CashMadam on your android phone; just click on this link

  • SHARING CashMadam with your network

  • GIVING us an encouraging review on Google store.

We’re optimistic you will help CashMadam achieves her first milestone this July. We’ll use this traction (and the SME data acquired) to raise the funding we need to keep CashMadam free and upgrade the solution.

Best part of it is that you will get to use CashMadam too! Its great for everything from managing your household inventory to managing your side hussle to managing your growing empire.

I really hope you will decide to help. It won’t take you more than a few mins.

Thank you, in advance!

Well done @chuqdennis and your team.

I downloaded the app and I can attest to it’s simplicity and functionality. It’s very rare to see a quality app such as Cashmadam being designed as a social solution to a problem most entrepreneurs are unwilling to face - financial accountability for informal businesses.

My question is regarding sustainability of this solution. Given that you are tailoring this solution for informal business most of which are micro businesses, who do you intend to sustain the app (or business)?

thanks. much appreciated.

we will collect/capture, analyse, and curate data from this informal businesses to understand patterns, trend and associations, especially relating to micro behaviours and economic interactions. for example, we could plot the consumption pattern for noodles on an hourly basis at the street level. this kinda insight is our business/sustainability.

This sounds so mumbo-jumbo to me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let’s break it down dude. What will the by-product of these insights be? How do you intend to use these data? Do you intend to monetise these data? If yes, how?

hmmm. ah don die.

can you restart the process again? perhaps, close the app and try again?
PS: if you can, DM your number and i can check the sms verify dashboard to see if your device sent an sms to us. sometime, it’s the device network issue, but i can as well check if it’s from our end. thanks

lolz.

yes. we intend to monetize the data; at least.
how? by tapping into this data sight for marketing, sales, advertising, customer service, product development, etc.

I like the product. Pro-tip: Try and put a description (elevator pitch description) of the product in the first 2 sentences. I had to scroll down to find a proper description of the product and what it does.

Will do. Thanks

@chuqdennis Hi. So I downloaded your application to test run it and for some weird reason it keeps crashing once I enter my phone number to authenticate.

Am running Marshmellow incase you need more information so that you can troubleshoot.

Cheers

Why is your app - targeted to Nigerians - full of white people?

Instant turn off :mask::mask::mask:

Yes, and my apologies. The crash happens with Marshmallow at point of authentication. The problem is with the number Verify SDK we are currently using (Nexmo) which does not support Marshmallow upwards. We have raise the issue with them to upgrade their SDK. However, we just want to exhaust our current SMS balance and then switch to another up-to-date SDK or build our own.

I’ll update this thread as soon as we are able to support Marshmallow.

Lol. You mean the “white” avatar used in my post? Kindly clarify. Thanks

Love the website… now let me download and give feedback
