I just launched Feem v4. Share Files OFFLINE!

TLDR: Feem v4 is out. Faster. Prettier. More Secure. You should download it here: http://www.feem.io

Hi guys. I’m Fritz.
I’ve written two articles for TechCabal already, but this is the first time I’m posting on Radar.

I’m the guy who created Feem. If you don’t know what Feem is, you’ll probably want to check it out. Feem is an app that permits you to share files within your LAN. You don’t need a server. You don’t need the Internet. (You’ll probably need the Internet to download Feem  ).

Just install Feem v4 on all of your devices, make sure your devices are connected to the same (Wi-Fi or cable) network, and BAM! Your devices should automagically detect each other. Start sending chats and files between your devices. OFFLINE. You can send heavy files between your devices, without passing through Mr. Sluggish Internet.

Feem works on iOS, Android, Windows Desktop, Windows 10 Mobile, MacOSX and Linux 64 bit.

How is Feem different from BlueTooth?
Feem is around 50X faster.

Known issues?

  1. Feem v4 doesn’t yet support file transfers to your sd card on android at the moment. I will fix this in the next Feem update.

How is Feem different from ShareIt and Xender?

  1. Security. Feem encrypts ALL local chats and file transfers with TLS. Similar apps transfer files without encryption. (ShareIt appears to have partially addressed this issue).
  2. Full-Duplex. Feem operates in full-duplex mode. You can send and receive files AT THE SAME TIME. Similar apps operate in half-duplex mode; you are limited to either sending or receiving; you cannot send and receive at the same time. This limits productivity, especially in an office environment.
  3. Business Model. Feem’s business model is simple: If you like the app, you’ll pay for it. Feem is targeting professionals. Similar apps focus on growth only, then later switch to serving you adware and malware. True story.
  4. Chat. Can be used to gist around in the office, or send links between your devices.
  5. Resumable file transfers. Similar apps duplicate already sent files, and can’t resume interrupted file transfers.
  6. Feem works great on Mac and Linux. The others don’t.
  7. Send to multiple devices at the same time in an adhoc manner, without forming groups. This works when you drag and drop files on Feem for desktop.
  8. We’ll offer support right here on Radar  Similar apps won’t. It’s still preferable to contact us via email if you need support info@feeperfect.com

There are 99 other reasons why you should choose Feem. But I guess it’s better you download Feem and judge for yourself if it will be a good fit for you.

Hidden Gems ?

  1. On Windows File Explorer, right-click on a file to send via Feem.
  2. We added an experimental Wi-Fi Direct support on Windows Desktop and Android for even faster file transfers. With our Wi-Fi Direct support on Windows Desktop and Android, you don’t even need a router. Activate a Wi-Fi Direct “hotspot” on one of your devices, and connect your other devices to that hotspot.

Most offices with Feem installed have found it very useful. I hope you find it useful too.

Feem can be used at home, in school or in your office. If it doesn’t work, send us an email: info@feeperfect.com. There’s always something that can be done to improve the product.

NB 1: v4 of Feem is a complete rewrite of the previous versions we had. If you’ve been using Feem before, note that Feem v4 is not compatible with Feem v3. The UI is different, and the underlying protocol has changed. You will need to install Feem v4 on all of your devices.
NB 2: Use the feem.io link above to get Feem v4. Searches on the Internet or the various app stores might lead you to Feem v3.

Any questions?

Men Dat is Hard Work may be we stay connected on a project but not now

Awesome.
You built it all by yourself?

Thanks @kingzamzon.

Thanks @Diakon. Yes. I built it ALL by myself. I built the iOS, Android, Windows Desktop, Windows Mobile, Mac, Linux versions all by myself. I even did a Maemo version before
It’s not something I’m particularly proud of.
I wish I had a bigger team to help me in the development of Feem. Unfortunately, recruiting (and maintaining) the type of talent I’m looking for will require a lot of money. Money I don’t have right now. I didn’t want that to stop me from launching.
We are now working with a designer to polish up the UI to make it even more awesome. Feem v4.1 will have even more polish than version 4.0.
We might also take some interns to help with more features.

Trivia: Prior versions of Feem were a PITA to maintain. I had to do the same thing over and over for all the major platforms (mobile, tablet, desktop) I support, in different programming languages, IDEs, frameworks, and runtimes. I moved slowly as a result. Feem v4.0 is a BIG rewrite. 90% of the code is now shared across all platforms (mobile, tablet, desktop). It’s now easier for a one man team to maintain. I should be able to move much faster now, and fix bugs consistently across all platforms.
