How Devcenter uses storytelling elements to create remarkable content

As Marketing Lead at Devcenter, my work revolves around creating memorable content for our developer community. This comes in the form of newsletters and blog posts. I wrote about how we created a fictional character “Core” and how we’ve used Core to amplify our content reach.

First, we had to settle on the character traits of Core. Core is funny, witty, unserious, serious, silly and stupid. Core did not and does not have to make any sense at all. We found that by doing this, we could create a habit with our readers – making them look forward to reading Core’s messages. Core could literally be anything at any point in time. It is completely unpredictable.

I didn’t even know Core wasn’t a person! So who does most of the ‘Core’ posts?

I must say I’m a big fan of how Devcenter manages its community. And good ‘storyteling’ is one of the things that you guys do very well.

Thanks for finally unvielling Core.
That character is an “amazing writer”. I presume she is a girl

BTW, I like her story-telling approach. It reminds me of the mails I used to get from SuperMart.NG in the early days.
