Eniola can’t be broke if he passed his CCNP without dumps. If he truly knows how to configure/troubleshoot real life BGP problems or Dot1x then all he needs to do is to walk into either Resourcery, PPC or Telnet and his Pastor will have him in speed dial
If he is really good in C and especially in using C for FPGA programming with his networking background all the SDN startups will be after him as networking guys don’t usually code. If he is less than 25 without any baggages then a PhD is the best way forward - Stanford or Fraunhofer FOKUS
Personally, Eniola needs to first decide if he wants to wants to be either a Networking or Software Development resource and focus on his choosen path…
