GoKive - A Smooth approach towards Finding Needs, Businesses & other products & services

Hi everyone,
Myself and 2 of my friends @donjajo and Magnus (not sure if he had joined Radar yet) would like to Show a new Web App we built, it took some months, I mean it took a longer time than planned to set it up coz we were far apart while building the project, I was at home, Magnus, in school both of us were in Lagos, and @donjajo stays in the Eastern part of Nigeria, thank Heavens we rounded it up at last. Quickly, Let me introduce us to the stuff.

People move out every day, looking for things to get instantly at their locations, this can really be a huge problem especially when their Location is strange or new.

What if I told you that thereā€™s now a platform that solves this, where you can go instantly to find your needs based in your location, fast and easy?
From Basic and daily things like where to eat, drink, and buy groceries, or services like hair saloon, Football viewing center, cyber cafeā€™sā€¦ People can use it to find blogs and websites around them too.

As a matter of fact, the web App is meant for Every person or business-owner with a smartphone (at least, for now), using the businessā€™ location Anybody can Add theirs or other Peopleā€™s businesses to it. From the smallest to the biggest businesses, whether you work offline, sell Products in a shop, or work in the Office, Or you work online as a blogger, Freelancer, etc as long as you Have a Business, product or service to Offer.

Some businesses (small & big scale) have been rolled in, and more are coming as we recently have started moving out to share it with people.

As time goes on, We will use the platform to bring in both good web Traffic and real customers to those that have added their businesses to the platform.

Once again, Hereā€™s it is => www.gokive.com

Hereā€™s a review and more info on How it will serve everyone who uses it

Weā€™d appreciate to hear your feedbacks, what do you think about the project?
Thanks and Regards.

I canā€™t do anything

canā€™t do anything? where exactly?

Question 1 (100mks) : Okay, Iā€™m here. Now what?

Full disclosure: Your post was too long so I didnt read it. Jumped to the end looking for a link. Found one, clicked it. Saw the site and thought to myself, ā€œWhat am I doing here?ā€.

If thatā€™s your intended reaction, then kudos.

If not, you, @donajo and the guy not yet on radar have work to do

Thanks for that, I think we still have to work on the intro of the homepage. So when next you see it, Youā€™ll know what to do there

This guy, you really put number of marks. Wow! :joy:
(as in, show your workingā€¦)

Anyway, @Edi4all, iā€™m really interested in how you came up with the name Gokive.

Plus I think your intro should be about 3 short paragraphs.

  1. What is it?
  2. Why you built it
  3. How to access it

Hope that helps.

canā€™t do anything, because thereā€™s nothing to do

I know you and your team put work into this and I try not to be the person to come off as perpetually negative butā€¦ I have to ask, whatā€™s the difference between this and the other local location based directories?

Also, what does the below comment mean?

People can use it to find blogs and websites around them too.

Second, the site seems to force your location (it seems to track using IP and your browser location), with no manual way to change it, which I donā€™t think is a good idea. What if Iā€™m not in Nigeria for whatever reason and I want to find something there?

The UX could use some work. I didnā€™t know the green line was a search box, I thought it was a border at first. And like was mentioned above, itā€™s not immediately clear what the site does on first visit.

I could go into this more but honestly itā€™s all moot until the first question is answered.

HI,
Tried much in keeping it simple. Firstly, you should see a tooltip to help tell you what to do.

  1. Type in what youā€™re looking for in your locality
  2. Hit the GPS button (the one with map marker) and wait for your GPS to give us your location
  3. Hit the search button to get results

There is an ā€œAdd Businessā€ link at the right top of the site, this will be if you want to add your business - more on how-to is here - http://www.editweaks.com/2015/10/gokive-review-smooth-web-app-for.html

Hi,
In the post, he added a link to the how-to - http://www.editweaks.com/2015/10/gokive-review-smooth-web-app-for.html

Hi,
We added features which users havenā€™t explored, these are some of them:

  1. Small businesses that doesnā€™t have business name can register and we generate a name for them which theyā€™d be using on GoKive
  2. Adding price tags to your products: Once you verify a business, you have the feature of adding price to each of them, when user searches for ā€œbreadā€ he sees ā€œbread: N200ā€ in the search result page for your business
  3. SEO: main reason we are doing this is helping the world and making it a better place, not only the listing on our site, the listing goes to Google search too. Where your business appears on Google with Address, description and the rating users give you, and also the price tags you put on your products
  4. GPS: We are mostly using GPS on this, picking location to give you nearest place to get what you want

The GPS part as we are seeing it as a problem to most people, the next update will provide a sure alternative, even when you are not in a locality, you can search in it

People can use it to find blogs and websites around them too.:
Iā€™m a blogger, I can add myself as a business and add my products as blogging and when someone searches, youā€™re been shown.
Iā€™ve had couple friends looking for bloggers/webmasters they can work with, we decided to enable a channel where if the site owners include their site on GoKive, such people can easily use the category and location of the website to find the websites and their owners
