Feedback for a living room entertainment device

I’ve been pondering this but also understand that there are only a few ways to request feedback on this subject without making it too convoluted. So here are a few questions, hoping this spurs some discussion and possible ideas for how tech enables the Nigerian entertainment consumer.

Feel free to answer as many as you can or all.

  • How many minutes do you spend watching TV per day?
  • What type of programs do you generally invest this time in (soap operas, live events, news, reality TV etc)? Feel free to use approximate percentages if you have a good mix.
  • Do you watch on-demand (recorded) or mostly live TV?
  • How much of your ‘TV’ time is split between over-the-air TV or cable (DSTV etc) and online video?
  • Do you mind having ads in the middle of your TV programs? Yes/No/If Relevant To Me
  • Do you listen to over-the-air or on-demand (Pandora etc) radio in your living room?
  • Do you have a subscription to an online video on demand platform (Netflix, Hulu IrokoTV etc)? If yes, which?
  • How much do you spend on all your entertainment per month (including data where applicable)?
  • Do you keep up with the latest songs and movies in Nigeria? If yes, how do you find them?
  • {For people who live in Nigeria} Do you own a DVR or record live TV in any way?
  • Describe a device that will solve all your entertainment problems in the living room.
  • How much will you pay for the device?
  • Would you pay for a service that brings all the latest Nigerian entertainment content (TV shows, movies, songs) to your living room on demand and at no extra data cost to you? If yes, how much would you pay per month for this service?

//How many minutes do you spend watching TV per day?//

240minutes during weekdays and 360minutes during weekends.

//What type of programs do you generally invest this time in (soap operas, live events, news, reality TV etc)? Feel free to use approximate percentages if you have a good mix.//

It depends. For instance , I spend more time watching live events (football) and sometimes Movies on weekends but I watch more of news , Soap operas and TV shows during the week.

So weekend is 70% live events and 30% movies.

And during the week is 50% news , 20% Soap operas , 30% TV shows.

//Do you watch on-demand (recorded) or mostly live TV?//

My reply above will answer this.

//How much of your ‘TV’ time is split between over-the-air TV or cable (DSTV etc) and online video?//

100% cable

//Do you mind having ads in the middle of your TV programs? Yes/No/If Relevant To Me//

Yes I do. Because ads don’t influence my decisions in any way. I don’t buy things because I saw the ad on TV.

//Do you listen to over-the-air or on-demand (Pandora etc) radio in your living room?//

No.

//Do you have a subscription to an online video on demand platform (Netflix, Hulu IrokoTV etc)? If yes, which?//

No. I’ve never used any of them.

//Do you keep up with the latest songs and movies in Nigeria? If yes, how do you find them?//

I listen to some Nigerian songs and sometimes watch Nigerian movies. But I don’t “Follow” the industry.

Most Nigerian songs are meaningless and do not add value to people’s lives. Just noise and “Gra Gra”.

//Describe a device that will solve all your entertainment problems in the living room.//

I’m satisfied with DSTV

//Would you pay for a service that brings all the latest Nigerian entertainment content (TV shows, movies, songs) to your living room on demand and at no extra data cost to you? If yes, how much would you pay per month for this service?//

Yes. 5k per month.

You really need to learn how to use the [quote] feature.

Yeah, The reply looks plain and boring, hence not easy to read. :frowning:

Really? Okay.

What happen to polldaddy , surveymonkey?

I thought about them for a moment. The relevant respondents are here so I’d hate to take this off Radar. Also, I am also hoping people’s responses can spur a discussion that uncovers opportunities. That is not a possibility on PollDaddy or SurveyMonkey.

Hope that clarifies.

Thanks for checking it out!
