I think thread closure is always an interesting one. As @87_chuks mentioned, we’ve had strange calls in the past. It was also one of my bugbears which I’ve raised after seeing it first hand;
For instance, back in October…in a thread also surprisingly called [b]Radar So Far[/b], I raised 2 points;
In this case, it appears to fall under the ‘outlived its usefulness’ (which might be debatable but requires a judgment call). In any case, what we need to work on is communicating that better. So at least everyone will know what’s going to happen.
In all, I think when thread closure happens; some people are pissed off, some are happy and some frankly, think what took so long! But the bad cases are always when no one knows it’s going to happen. I think we need to remove the surprise element. So in this context, when we use the word community, it signifies that while a conversation is ongoing, which the community is very much engaged in, then there’s little chance of it being arbitrarily shut down.
