I’ve read a lot of posts here, some have been locked/closed? usually with a clear reason provided. There’s this particular thread which is automatically being closed tomorrow (What does it take for a startup to be featured on TechCabal?). Maybe I didn’t see the reason, that’s why I’m asking.
I suppose when the conversation stops being constructive, the moderators take initiative to nip it in the bud to keep the overall quality of the site intact. Good idea if you ask me.
Not “a lot”. The thread in question was becoming a circle jerk. Attack Techcabal. Defend. Attack. Defend. One person understands. Brand new attack.
Same as the Rehto post.
But if you think we haven’t exhausted the topic, please raise it again! It’s well within your power.
And there’s the clear reason. Thanks. @seyitaylor This is what I meant. At the end of the Rehto post you wrote
This topic is now closed. New replies are no longer allowed.
The initial premise of this post is warped - posting press releases =/= asking for a product review. If you post a product asking for a review, you should be willing to take all feedback - positive and negative.
Also, the same person posting from different accounts is automatically flagged by the system; so, maybe not such a good idea expressionless
But the one to which I was referring had no clear reason stated.
You’re 200% right.
First, let me say again - most of the posts on Radar are OPEN.
Second, you’re right. There’s a default messages that appears when you ‘close’ topics. Normally, we didn’t bother to explain but it’s now going to be policy to explain why they’re closed going forward to avoid a situation where people are confused.
