In Nigeria, it seems like most programmers and developers love running solo, but is this healthy for us? Can more come out of us, if we do things together? @lordbanks @seyitaylor @onyeka @Yomi
Yeah. I agree.
I mean, It’s a growing community and right now, the best thing that can happen now/is happening is developers co-working and sharing ideas.
Not everytime, someone is out there to steal your idea.
I’m guessing the co-working part is what Cc-Hub is trying to do with their several meetups.
This is a major issue have observed in the developer community. Many will continue to remain in their silos and keep working on ideas others have already implemented and for the most part implemented well.
We also have a the problem of many inexperienced coders aka newbies and very few experienced ones aka Gurus. We hardly see the gurus except for some popular faces contributing or helping to grow the community.
This is what brought about http://devcenter.co. If you’re a developer you should check it out, lots of fantastic projects have been featured lately. You might see a project you already know and feel its old but to many others they just discovered it.
It is very important that we work together. Collaboration is the key to unlocking the massive potential we have here. A lot of problems are still waiting to be solved. But together we can.
Silicon Valley has had a huge influence on the growth of the tech industry, why?, similar minds co-existing, learning from each other, inspiring, pushing, challenging, inventing, innovating.
I am still yet to find a place like that over here, perhaps we should create one - virtually or physically.
P.S. CChub is the closest I’m aware of.
