Devs.NG is Live

Hi,

Permit me to announce Devs.NG, a proposed community for Nigerian Developers.

I have been on radar for a year now reading about all these startups, products etc and how they get criticised (in a good way) for issues related to development and left on their own to figure out how to solve their problems.

While I know it’s easy for a development category to be created here, I still think Development is vast and we need a world of our own.

So, I have taken it upon myself to launch another instance of Discourse at Devs.NG (nothing fancy) for discussions (in details) related to markup, Introduction to codes, code reviews, bug fixes, website reviews (broken links, loopholes etc), hackathons, servers and many more at various levels.

This installation was made 2days ago and as the time of this post, I have only been able to cover >= 60% of setup. I don’t mind contributions to speedUp the process.

So, If you are a Nigerian Developer, please grab your Dev gears :wrench: :nut_and_bolt: :hammer: and head over to Devs.NG, lets talk, learn and build codes together!

Nice idea. Please change your logo, it makes the whole thing uneasy on the eye. Am viewing it on mobile.

NICE. i love the idea!

I’m a core Dev, I suck at designs and I still haven’t found my pair :(. I usually go through a lot of decision problems whenever I attempt but heck, I am working on this! Contributions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

So why not use radar ? @someadmin can easily create categories for tech stuff >

@youngbobby - I think this is great and was about to signup when I noticed you don’t use HTTPS.

Kindly install an SSL cert or is there some Discourse-specific reason why it’s hard to do?

techcabal doesn’t have HTTPS either, so whats ya problemu

I think this should respond to your question. Moreover, I think radar is awesome the way it is.

Any ETA?

If you want him to have HTTPS installed, just let him know. IMO, using HTTPS as a yardstick to signing up on a discussion board where you won’t be discussing finance, sharing API keys or secret terrorist discussions is too much paranoia. I bet you don’t visit sites that do not have the green padlock.

I just did

The ignorance is strong in this one. Remind yourself never to swallow the red pill.

Hypocrisy is when you use a non-encrypted site like Radar and many others and won’t signup on a similar, 2 days old website because it hasn’t got HTTPS enabled.

Joe lives in a shit hole.
Joe complains about said shit hole.
Joe is trying to get Tortoise, his landlord, to fix the shit hole.
Tom builds a shit hole.
Joe tells Tom how to fix his shit hole so that Joe can migrate.
Tom agrees to fix his shit hole.
Mumu comes along, doesn’t understand what Joe and Tom have agreed, and complains that Joe won’t jump from one shit hole into another.
