Data wars: Etisalat's 1GB for N1k data plan

Continuing the discussion from Glo data is cheap(er), but is it fast?:

Then this happens

As at the time of this writing, Etisalat Nigeria has eight data plans that progressively becomes cheaper with more data purchased. Before now, N1000 could only buy 200MB data. If this plan is real, then Etisalat has effectively unbundled their pricing model. There is really no need to buy N10,000 worth of data at a time any more.

I’m liking where this data race is going. Straight down to the bottom.

Seems these guys are dropping data prices. What I’d like to understand is why they aren’t talking about it.

The new N1,000 for 1GB data plan still isn’t listed on the official Etisalat website as of today. But they have listed a N2,000 for 2GB data plan (see link here: http://etisalat.com.ng/easyblaze/dataplans.php). This code worked for me.

Enjoying this price crash (previously one could only get 500MB for N2,000).

Just curious: why is the SMS code AND2? Is it just for Android phones?

Why does it feel like am the only one enjoying this. Done like two subscriptions already.

It’s like I’m going to ditch Airtel

I think by default it was made for Android phones, but it also works for iPhones (and I assume other smart phones). That’s what I currently use, I used the USSD code and then got the ‘Your request to buy 1GB Android monthly data plan was successful.’

If you’re ditching AIRTEL, better go for Glo.

Yeah this didn’t work for me. I got a message that I wasn’t eligible. :frowning: And I use an Android. At least the N2000 for 2GB works (which makes no sense to me, but whatevs)
