DATA war is real - The Impact so far

In remember posting this GLO data crash - A Trap or Fortune?
a couple of months ago and sine then I had ported to the “Glo Side of Life”. I’ve been enjoying cheap data and extremely low consumption reading.
On the flipside, Spectranet and Swift have been bombarding my line with calls - almost daily - and about 20 SMS daily (No kidding) as well as emails. I have been kind enough to give them feedback that papa Adenuga - the party ringer - had step into my life for good.

Just this evening after about 2months of not seeing their consistent subscriber make his contribution to their ‘greed’ - I say greed cos those guys had the guts to increase price and reduce data size at the heart of our economic crunch, not having compassion on the SMEs that have been patronizing them despite their “usain bolt data consumption network” - they sent me this.

Too bad, I’m not going back cos they aint loyal

However, what’s your take?

The drop in the cost of data does not excite me as much as it should, because QoS continues to be big problem for most ISP. QoS also seems to vary widely based on a customer’s location, so everyone has a different experience. I have a friend who recently signed up for Spectranet in PH, the service is fast, but her data gets depleted at an alarming rate.

We end up buying different modems and subscribing to different ISP in the quest for good internet. The thing don tire me, I swear. :expressionless:

Please tell them o. When all is going well they forget their customers and would constantly look for ways to squeeze every little kobo out of them until of course the situation changes.

Depleted? What does she use it for or better put what devices does she use them on?

Windows 10 OS downloads updates automatically unless you set the network as metered so that could be a suspect…

Am impressed with the data war… Would like it to go down more… Smile was forming high and mighty in PH until Spectranet came to clear their doubts.

I am not Am…sigh.

I am tracking the data wars, Airtel still at the top of the chart in terms of cost for their 2G plans and also their night plan N50 for 1.5Gb, but swift no hate but those guys data cap is so brutal.

I totally depends on location and coverage. I have a firsthand experience on Etisalat. The drop in standard has been too drastic - it is now really really poor regardless of the time of the day.

Price war without an upgrade in infrastructure is a recipe for disaster. It’s so catch 22.

You want more people to have access to the internet at affordable prices but capacity should be considered. Most if not all internet providers are groaning under the massive weight of subscribers. It’s not surprising that there is almost an appalling level of service across board. It is well. Sigh
