Good day one and all, I am currently working on a project similar to QuickAirtime, but have succeeded in adding extra value that would remunerate end users/subscribers. I have also included some cool features which I wouldn’t want to divulge now for obvious reasons. My main issue now is getting adequate discounts directly from the GSM Network Companies. I would appreciate if anyone who has an idea of what it will cost to get Dealership packages from the Networks for VTU, to please share. I know Airtel VTU Dealership will cost me about N2m, but I have no information on Etisalat, MTN and GLO.
Getting this information will help me move my project to the Final stage. I have investors who are willing to sponsor the project, but I need the information so I can make a Financial Presentation.
It’d really be tough for you to get a direct dealership from the telcos. Why not go through one of the VTU Aggregators out there, say a Paga for a start? this way, you are able to test your idea really quickly and at a much lower capital requirement. Although you get slightly lower discount/commission but it’s a good place to start, at least to test your idea.
You mentioned QuickAirtime, are you referring to QuickAirtime Postpaid or QuickAirtime Prepaid
Either way, You can get direct from Telco by going to their offices. All you need is your company reg docs and NCC certificate. The cost is not cast in stone. A lot depends on what you are doing. Sometimes the contact there could help introduce you to an existing dealer to help you get a better retail discount. Just get to their offices.
I think the idea of shopping/lobbying for dealership from one telco to another is not very efficient at this his idea/proof of concept stage. Total waste of time if you ask me. With as little as 500k - N1m, a VTU Aggregator will give him one integration to serve airtime from all the telcos. This can be achieved in a week or less. Time to market is key!
I should also add that you don’t need NCC licence to work with an Aggregator.
@BloodyNigerian Also we(QuickAirtime) are the biggest prepaid agreggator in the world of airtime recharge and our reseller/API account is free/flexible.
I would have gone through the Aggregators, such as QuickAirtime and others, because its easier and cheaper, but it would affect the value of service I aim to deliver. Can any of the aggregators offer me discounts as high as 8%?
