Can any good "techy-thing" come out of Northern Nigeria?

My dear friends at TechPoint are FINALLY going to Northern Nigeria with 3 objectives:

  1. Discover more innovation clusters and bring the spotlight on them.
  2. Engage developers, students and innovators.
  3. Visit various University campuses to motivate and foster technological awareness among the youth.

Given that everybody thinks that Lagos (read: Yaba) is the HQ of tech in Nigeria, do you think any good thing will come out of their trip?

Read their press release: https://techpoint.ng/2016/10/26/techpoint-innovation-tour-northern-nigeria/

That Lagos is the ad hoc HQ does not mean it holds a monopoly on tech innovation. I definitely think there are a lot of good things ahead.

Abuja, Kaduna and Jos, the 3 major places that the TechPoint team will be visiting hold a lot of promises.

So, I heartily endorse the trip and hopeful of an outstanding discovery.

This makes me remember the visit of Sarah Lacy (of TechCrunch’s fame) to Nigeria which directly led to the growth of iROKOtv and helped showcase our startup ecosystem to the international community.

What I love most is how “battle-ready” the team captain is for the trip

The simple answer is YES. The right things need to happen at the right time and that doesn’t mean that they aren’t happening already! The subject of this thread may just be the hypothesis that Techpoint is out to test.

We are patiently awaiting these visits - Kaduna’s CoLab and Abuja’s Ventures Platform is enough to showcase us well well. Yimu
