I am not here to dent the coordinated hype that PayStack enjoys here.
In fact, I have personally looked at PayStack, but since it is still invite-only access and I don’t have a new project, I have not been able to see behind the hood of this newly minted payment startup.
So, I will share based on my experience with VoguePay - another online payment platform in Nigeria
1… Eyowo was my first payment platform before VoguePay, but I have been stucked since 2012. Obviously, I love their FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SUPPORT which I believe is a BIG hurdle for online payment.
Imagine calling and no one answers you for a project that is almost due
2… I had a conversation with a Developer that works with WeChat now, during AfriBeta event and he quite agree with me on some of my opinions; especially on ease of their documentation compare to yet another payment startup.
3… VoguePay currently offers 30% commission to developers for every site they integrate: which i think is a good incentive for me.
Coordinated hype?! Really, bro? See, its quite a small community so when a new service that is at least (2-5)x better in implementation, than existing services is built by a member of the community, you should expect this sorta rooting.
Unless you think the Paystack folks are about throwing money around for praises for a service that they still have in private beta. Nothing coordinated, bro. If pikin fine, talk say e fine, move on.
I think it’s a service with a great potential, and it may just be the stripe we’ve been waiting for, hence all the rooting.
And my comment was NOT pitching me against the platform. I simply gave my perspective to the question and recalled what @sherlock “noticed” about the thread.
By the way, you’re not denting anything. It’s all well and good for you to state Voguepay advantages (which are good btw), but I couldn’t care less for them.
Personally (for my startup), I need what PayStack is promising. And I hope they succeed.
I’ll stick to any platform that gives official plugins (popular CMS like WordPress, joomla and drupal), packages, API, and thorough documentation.
Voguepay seem in the region. Don’t know what stops GTPay, Webpay and Interswitch from releasing theirs despite the huge initial deposit they scare you with.
Lol. Restricted to just NGN for now, because of settlements. But technically, we can - we charge foreign-issued Mastercard and Visa cards. And when we put together a proper plan in place to settle other currencies, we will enable those.
That is exactly what Paystack offers plus the ability to charge your customers in the future without them having to provide their card details anymore - great for your Taxi app ;-).
You have such a sharp eye. LHPAY is a cyprus based company i was evaluating at the time that found itself into the list. #lol
The ease of integration was one of the things that sealed it for me before i started using VoguePay
I realize that in business, making decision about the choice of online payment gateway is totally dependent on individuals’ need and available technology.
