Hello Radar! Please are there any meetups for developers or incubators or tech hubs in Port Harcourt? Thanks for your most anticipated positive responses.
There is focusHub
Where in portharcourt please? Thanks
Check their site: http://focushub.net/ . Rumuigbo area, i guess. You code ?
Funny… An urban centre like Port Harcourt, one of Nigeria’s major cities, seems to be lagging behind when it comes to tech and enterpreneurship. Apart from the recent startup conference held there, I haven’t heard much startup/tech news out of there. Why is that?
Yeah. Beginner but an avid reader and a person who has learnt to learn.
Most of them just shift to lagos or aren’t “popular” enough. Some cool startups here (met them at the startup south conference).
Hi guys, like Mr_Carver said. there’s FocusHub. There are a lot of activities going on in their hub this year. They recently did a code camp. Soon there would other activities. Check out their site www.focushub.net and number 08180187070
@ChukwuEmeka I’m renting a self-contain next week in Choba axis of Port Harcourt for my startup. To foster a community of tech enthusiasts, I plan to organize meetups (e.g programming sessions) most Saturdays using our office. I studied Computer Science and Engineering in Jain University in Bangalore, India. I returned last year to Nigeria and plan on launching a startup in Choba this year. I believe Choba is the ideal place in Port Harcourt for tech startups, just as Yaba is to Lagos.
Hello,@tammygomo well to Phcity, my name is Agbona and I work for a startup called Netopps. We organise an event in Port Harcourt called Startup Sunday, we will be having the event on the 20th of February 2106, and subsequently it will hold every 3rd Sunday of the month.
You can buzz me 08146679908 lets have a chat.
Agbona
Great work @Agbona with Startup Sunday. You guys make Port Harcourt tick. A friend had told me about Startup Sunday. I’m so much eager to attend the meetup but I’ll be traveling to Warri 20th of Feb. I will definitely attend April’s edition of Startup Sunday. I’m a strong believer in the City of Port Harcourt becoming a great hub for tech startups.
@tammygomo I also have a place around Choba axis because I also think the area will be great for a tech hub. I work for a startup called Netsob and I’m also interested in meeting with other founders in Port Harcourt so holla if you want to meetup. @Agbona, I’m also looking forward to April edition of Startup Sunday.
@Light I’m indeed delighted that Port Harcourt is gradually becoming the next startup city in Nigeria. To sustain this development we all need each other. Founders need other founders, developers need other developers. We learn from each other. And when times are hard, we empathize like no others can. I’m ready to offer my office for meetups and programming sessions. Am ready to teach others and learn from others as well.
Here is my little office.
It’s a self-contain in Choba. We’re still trying to get things in order. Anyone interested in making this city a developer and startup-friendly city shouldn’t hesitate to come by. You’re always welcome. My mobile is 08039125250
Curious as to what influenced the choice of tall cabinets (without legroom) for tables?
@xolubi the choice was influenced by my landlord. He provided every apartment with one of those cabinets. So I thought we should just get two more to make it uniform. There are books and other things inside those cabinets.
Nice. I would certainly come over the next time am in port Harcourt. Presently am a student in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I would come over to see how things go over there at Choba.
