Thought I’d get your 2 cents on API development and adoption in Africa.
This article seems to show there’s untapped value from APIs when it comes to building product, services, marketplaces, etc. but I don’t really see the uptake in African ecosystems.
Thoughts?
I think it’s because we don’t collaborate enough. And we all know the lack of collaboration is our achilles heel, so we need to continue talking about it.
Apart from the payment guys, most firms haven’t expose their APIs. Actually, I have a post on this - coming through on Monday.
I agree with you. Most collaborative attempts are not perceived as symbiotic when presented.
I think that is just one side of the coin. There is a need for those who actually have APIs to socialize these tools with the ecosystem.
Run hackathons with available API, and SDKs and also masterclass on API-fiable product/service offering.
I do hope I’d be able to help with that especially for FinTech/FinWeb startups.
