Android Developers. Watch out

I was browsing through today and I came across this platform “Kotlin” which lets you code in Java and it can be converted to Android Programmers with the click of a button.
Now this has been implemented for just Java, but i am sure you all know what will happen in the following years if this actually turns out to be suucessful.

Keep Up! Are u being replaced with a button?? If so make sure you stay on top of it to remain relevant.
Thanks

Kotlin is just Yet Another Programming Language created by Jetbrains. It has a pretty light syntax and other cool features which makes some Android Programmers prefer it to Java. Google still builds their Android Apps with Java (at least the ones they share publicly). You can check their codelabs for Android Apps to confirm this.

The worst that’ll happen is that we all start coding with Kotlin which is even very unlikely. And even if it is enforced, it’ll be a nice break from Java. A couple of Nigerian devs I know build production apps with it already. I haven’t used it for anything serious yet.

Please see the image below for how to convert Java code to Kotlin automatically in Android Studio.

Please carry out a thorough research next time before crying wolf.

Jetbrains created Android Studio, so it will be very easy to switch the code syntax to kotlin which they also created… it doesn’t have to be successful before they port it to other languages bcos Jetbrains specializes in creating software and it won’t take years …

Hehe. I’d go easy on her a bit if I were you… I don’t think she’s an Android developer.

I am not an android dev. Just keeping up tabs. This just came out recently i guess not sure but it is something to watch out for.

Google created Android Studio not JetBrains though it’s based on JetBrains’ IntelliJ IDEA (Java IDE)

shared from their blog

And we always were open for collaboration. We made our IntelliJ platform open source in 2009 and since then a couple of companies have built their development environments on top of it. We are happy to see that our efforts have been recognized by such a respected company as Google.

We worked tightly with Google to help them create the best possible experience for Android developers on top of IntelliJ platform. The result of the collaboration is Android Studio, which is available as a preview release today. We are sure that it will attract thousands of new developers to the platform and will make Android programming so much more pleasant.

This doesn’t mean we’re dropping Android support from the IntelliJ Community Edition. It will remain a free and open Java IDE with full Android support and will include the new features developed by both the Google and JetBrains teams. We will continue to work hard on the core IntelliJ experience as well as help improve Android Studio.

Did you actually go through your initial post and your reply to mine or you just want to play the ‘I’m always right’ game?
