Akwalist 7:7 is back! The site was down for few months for lack of original concept. I was tailing Quora’s concept and it isn’t make me stand out from the rest. So I decided to re-think and focus on what am really good@. The site now is the "Financial Community’ where user anonymously answers or post questions about money, insurance, debt, finance, investment, business, inflation, stocks, mutual funds, and more.
Here in Nigeria, we have Q&A Community like [Question.ng] which focus on all topics. But I want [Akwalist 7:7] to focus on one particular niche…when you think about anything financial; need tips on how to invest your money, help on how to quit your job and become an employer of labour, or how to become an investor? Akwalist 7:7 will be your final bus-stop!
Users don’t need to register to post question or answers questions, but there is an opt-in email option if you want to follow up on any topics or contribution from others. I think right now am not competing or tailing to be like anybody.
I will welcome any criticism, suggestion or questions from you guys. THANKSSSS!!!
GOD BLESS RADAR TEAMS! GOD BLESS RADAR’S MEMBERS!! GOD BLESS STARTUP FOUNDERS!!!
I remember you posted about Akwalist on Radar a couple of months ago. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but a few of the brighter colors are jarring to the eyes. Maybe try toning down some of the colors, but keeping others bright? You have to do some experimentation and testing. Which brings me to my next point…
You need to find a way to get users signed up to the site and offering their contributions. It looks a bit lonely right now, and these types of sites can only thrive when there is an active community. You need to build traction somehow.
Are you stuck on the name Akwalist? My suggestion is to find a name that does a better job representing what your site is about.
@yoowai Thank so much for the key suggestions. Working on the (1) and (2), but for the (3); dnt you think changing the name will requires me to change the url @well?
Yes, you would have to change the URL, so give it some thought carefully before you decide what to do.
I can’t speak for others, but when I hear Akwalist, I think it’s going to be a directory of businesses or other things in Akwa Ibom State. Definitely not a financial community.
It’s up to you to choose a name that works for what you’re trying to do. However, the name should represent what you’re trying to build, or should be a unique name that doesn’t bring up connotations from a different industry.
Change the name to reflect the core theme of the site.
Even though the site categories are finance-related, you still need to drill down further to few topics and let discussion start before expanding to other areas. For example, you can start with a topic that appeals to people’s need.
You need to blog and drive traffic to the site. This is the lifeline of a successful online business. The days of ‘build and wait, they’‘ll come’ is gone. Write atleast 10 - 30 pillar articles that address people’s problem, if they have more questions to ask, redirect them to the site. This is the best way to drive the site to the next level.
My two cents. Read a lot about “seeding a community”. Don’t do it the dubious way - i.e. Indian route - but get like 20 friends and just gist generally on the site for like 3 months and people will want to join your Cabal.
Take your SEO very seriously as you are in the buisness of selling content.
